No they're not. They're a solid lock for the Lottery.

The east is pretty weak, top heavy with only 2 great teams and 3 good teams
They are hovering around the 7th to 9th place currently with their pieces imo

The team without LeBron was a lottery team, none of the players move the needle. I mean it's still very realistic all the youngsters improve next year, but judging from last year's performance, it's hard to see this team achieving anything. Heck, even Luke hasn't done much since joining the Lakers.

Kemba will be a good look, and the more the Hornets wait, the cheaper he gets. But you would basically be giving up one of the young assets which I don't think is a good look for someone in Kemba's caliber. Especially since Ball is there.

I wonder if a player like CJ will be available for cap relief.

Lakers would have been a 40 win team this past season if the kids remained healthy. They can't win 15 more games adding Lebron and complimentary pieces? Hell the Wolves went from 31 to 47 wins adding Jimmy Butler. Lakers can't make a similar leap adding what the majority regard ad the best player in the world?

35+16 wins = 51 wins which would have been good enough for 3rd in the West this past season. C'mon man.

Boston will be just fine. No offense to soxera fans, teams great but it’s not like they jumped up to top team in the east now

Philly got outcoached for sure. Plus Boston adding their two top players just makes it that much harder.

That being said, the path is clear to what we need to do:

• The experience helped tremendously. We had silly turnovers, poor execution at times that lead to unforced turnovers, totally normal for young teams
• Embiid was flat out tired at the end of games. He would still go all out, but that also lead to bad shots and turnovers. This is the first summer where he actually gets to work on his improvement and go above 81%
• We needed a go-to scorer, someone to get those grind out points (the same way CP3 did with HOU), we are hoping that would be Fultz
• Fultz...lol...no need to explain
• Simmons to improve his scoring and hopefully jump shot, he's proven that he can be the man, he has the right mentality and will only improve
• Land a star.

I think all those points are realistic and will help us compete with Boston.

I'll never forget the end of that OT game vs. OKC. Son was stumbling around with his mouth open like he was on his last legs after going 10 rounds with Lennox Lewis.

I think the Wolves is a poor comparison. They added other vets for depth (lakers added Stephenson and Javale), plus they already had a face of the franchise in KAT who is a 20 and 10 guy. Lakers don't have that, Ingram and Ball aren't that (yet). Let's say they make the third seed, I can't see them doing any damage in the playoffs. I will put em on the same tier as OKC right now.

I'm sure Magic has a couple of more moves to make this offseason so we will see.

PS. as much as I HATE the Lakers, I do think the NBA is more fun when they are good, the higher the ceiling, the harder the fall.
