Official 2017 Knicks Offseason thread, Phil Jackson gone

Full quote:

Phil Jackson on the possibility of Carmelo Anthony being a Knick after this summer: "He has a no trade contract. I think I expressed what I felt. I can't express it any better. I thought it was well-said, even though a lot of you didn't feel quite that way. But we'd like him to have success, the opportunity is narrowing. We'd just like him to have success somewhere. We're not going to be there. Hopefully we'll be maybe a playoff team next year. It would be tough to consider us a possible champion."

Son is gunning for the 8th seed again :x

This franchise loves purgatory

^ That line scared me :lol. Made me think Rose will be byke.

But the Heat made a surprise run at the playoffs & they were supposed to be a bottom 5 team. I wouldn't have a problem if we're in playoff contention with the young guys getting major minutes.

He straight up said we have no chance of being good. Perpetual rebuild after he spent all that money on Noah. ******* bum.

Who do y'all think represents us at the lottery?
Allan Houston seems like the most realistic choice that I wouldn't have any problem representing us

But it'll probably be mark *** Steve Mills again

The 6-foot-3 De'Aaron Fox, one of only two projected top-10 picks to show up at the NBA Draft Combine, met with Knicks president Phil Jackson on Wednesday. He said triangle talk never came up.

“I’ve seen it,” Fox said. “I don’t know too much about the triangle. Everyone says it’s hard to learn. But if I have to go in there and have to play in it, I’ll learn quickly. And Porzingis, he’s amazing. Watching him, what he did this year — I really paid attention to the NBA this year because I’m about to go into this business — man, he’s great. If I’m able to play with him, I feel we can do something special.”

We don't have enough of an ensemble of good young prospects to talk about the young guys getting major minutes leading us to the playoffs :lol

Eff that we went all in this past season, lost all our chips, and now it's time to start from scratch.

Let's get at least 1 or 2 more lotto picks in addition to this season before we talk about hoping the young guys have a playoff run. And if you guys think KP is stupid enough to turn down a max deal in NY regardless of the state of the franchise then you're bugging. I'm not trying to see us push for the 8th seed trying to appease someone who wouldn't leave anyways.

And the silver lining in Noah's contract is that we don't have money to play with to get FAs that won't do jack **** for us long term besides make next years pick worse. It's time to suck for a few seasons to get some running mates for KPs career. By the time that happens Noah will either retire and come off the books while collecting his check, or his contract will just run out and then that money will be a good thing to have at our disposal.

I dont disagree with that. Rather have Noah burn a hole in Dolan's pockets doing jack **** than sign some mediocre scrub to help us get the 10th seed. This organization badly needs to stop looking at free agency as the answer to its problems and if it takes paying Noah $72 mil over 4 years to accomplish that then so be it. At least he can be a good mentor to KP/Hernangomez and maybe find new life in a veteran leader reserve role like some of the bigs we had in 2013.

I swear I feel like I'm about to lose it every time I hear a rumor about Phil targeting Jrue Holiday or Jeff Teague or even worse resigning Rose. Stop with the ******* veteran stop gaps already.

I would honestly rather go into next season with Chasson ******* Randle starting at point than any of those guys. But clearly I want to use this draft pick on a PG, start him right away and let him play through his mistakes and grow with KP. If we're gonna suck Id at least like us to be developing young talent and be exciting to watch for once, which we would be with a blossoming rookie PG, KP, and whatever ends up happening with Melo. IF we play our cards right youd be surprised at how quickly we could go from a disaster/joke to an exciting young team on the rise. But I really dont trust Phil right now.
