Problem with Stidham for A&M was there's no question if either Briles had gotten a job he'd have followed.

If you're A&M and you take Jarrett, you piss off Mond who got you Ausbon. You lose Mond, then a Briles job pops you, you're up **** creek without a paddle.

Sumlin, for whatever reason, decided to play to long game when he really probably shouldn't have.

Jackson won with 2,144 points, with Deshaun Watson finishing second with 1,524. Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield (361 points), Sooners running back Dede Westbrook (209) and Michigan all-around star Jabrill Peppers (208) placed third through fifth, respectively. The gap between Watson and Mayfield was the largest in the last 70 years.

Hot take question:

Why would USF hire Charlie after he failed at a program that has some of the best resources in the country?

1. Charlie is an elite level recruiter in the state of Florida. USF will be in play for cruits that wouldn't talk to them before Charlie.

2. Charlie is very good at developing talent when there is something to work with.

3. Charlie runs a clean program that won't embarrass the institution with scandal.

4. Charlie is an excellent defensive coach when he has the talent and has time to build his team.

Charlie failed at Texas no doubt but it is usually harder being the first rebuilding coach at premiere programs than the second.
