College doesn't do this at all. This is a huge fallacy. The NBA and the NCAA isn't a different sport but in some aspects, it kind of is.

Totally different way the game is played. One example from a few big programs, Bill Self and Coach Cal notorious for limiting how their players play. Won't let them showcase or develop their skills, ie Wiggins and Cal making KAT stay on the block all season or Randle only being a bull in a China shop.

The difference for me is in HS all these dudes are dominating and getting buckets at ease but simply overpowering and being larger or more athletic. College or overseas give you a better transition to the NBA on pace, size, and actually working for baskets.

Playing UNC, Duke, & Cuse in 2 weeks, is definitely different than playing Westside Nowhere Prep Academy. Your playing elite talent WAYYY more often.

Nothing about playing against Syracuse translates

How many times are you playing elite talent in college? And even then, from the coaching, to the amateur teammates you have, to the archaic rules and pace of the game, College basketball doesn't mirror or prepare NBA prospects for the league at all.

I like the one and done. It weeds out some guys and yet doesn't punish the good ones too much for their 6 months of service
I only agree with this because we haven't seen major injuries yet. The first time it happens to a great prospect will be one times too many

Take out Cuse and insert Louisville

One and done also inflates some dudes while playing against bad competition *cough D'Lo *cough

Dudes like the Harrison Twins, Cliff Alexander, Cheick Diallo, Archie Goodwin come to mind that the jump to the NBA would have been brutal

he played in probably the best conference though besides the ACC
I'm not sure what his #s were vs the top teams but yeah...

If the NBA ever successfully figures out a minor league system, the preps to pros concept will work quite nicely. Without that, letting in 10+ high school kids every year now is only going to damage the overall product and further turn the league into a developmental league which turns off everybody.

And them staying in college did exactly what for them? At least they would have gotten paid before flaming out. This is supposed to be America, free enterprise.

I feel like scouting has evolved to the point that I'd hope proper evals would be conducted and advice would be given back to these types of prospects

Regardless, if they could have gotten a pay check, that's better than nothing

They could have always gone back to college

But what about the 3 and 4 year guys who flame out yearly in the NBA too?

Making players go to college is pure exploitation put on by the NCAA to get rich off these kids. If you know any D1 turned pro basketball players, ask them their opinion on it.

At least in football, we're talking about a dangerous, physical sport

When it comes to Hockey and Football, I'm not trying to send kids in there man...

I agree with you. My point is though if we're arguing how unfair it is to keep a 18 year old from making a check and forcing them to play for free to make others millions then we gotta stand up for everyone.

It's a tuff situation they way it's set up. The solution for all of it would be paying college players. Creating a system that works across the board. If you make it a free for all and have schools pay what they see fit it will destroy college sports and provide the wealthier schools a larger advantage then they already have.

All that really needs to be said

Although like I referenced, football I SOMEWHAT understand the age limits
I don't at all.

CTE is real and if these guys are good enough to play in the NFL, you have to let them, given their very short years for massive earning potential.

****** in CFball are straight up getting brain damage w/o any compensation at all for years. That's terrible. That's slavery.
