Remember when Chris Paul made people think Tyson chandler was a top center?
Oh, I wasn't being sarcastic. I never thought Chandler was as good as advertised. Then the "championship pedigree" started after Dallas won. I don't think DJ is better than Cousins, Dwight, or a sane Whiteside. He fits this team perfectly doe. Would have been rough seeing him try to score in DallasRemember when Chris Paul made people think Tyson chandler was a top center?
Chandler went from CP3 to playing with Carlisle and Kidd tho
But, I'm not saying DJ isn't good. I just don't think he's as good as that survey made him out to be. Saying he's the #1 center in the league considering who he's up against is pretty big time. I guess its just a preseason survey, though. 1 or 2 months in, I'm expecting it to change.
I wanted Mike Conley to be the Tony Parker replacement.
In regards to Jordan, I think there's a lot of value in a center that can do all the things he can on the court AND not miss games.
So I can't blame anyone for placing him #1.
Even if Conley does have a really great season, chances are it will only last for 2 years. Year 3 of his contract will be brutal if he declines like I'm expecting him to.
After CP3, Chandler was the anchor on a championship team and then won DPOY?
Dudes always credit the PGs for getting big men alleys and dunks but the elite finishing bigs usually flourish with even average guards.
BTW, Whiteside is scary. This is why I'm not sure about Jordan being the #1 center in the league. You have about 3 other guys capable of making a similar impact on different teams who are forced to be more effective as a top option. I realy wish we could've saw Jordan in Dallas just to see if he could live up to the hype without CP3.
