maybe cause its NFL Sunday but how is this play not a bigger deal? and how is everyone letting the SEC off the hook for that Arkansas illegal play on 4th down that saved the game for them?
One because its Nebraska. Robert Smith bashed miami saying they should forfit after the refs clearly got it wrong after review. He tweeted after this game. Gotta feel good for those Nebraska kids way to go big red. And is now back peddling on everything. Fiembaum and wilbon of course haven't said a word.

What was wrong with the Arkansas play ?

Almost every desperation multi lateral play at the end of a game has the ball hit the ground during it. There's a difference between a fumble which can't be advanced and an intentional lateral.

You can not lateral the ball on 4th down and have it hit the turf. The ball has to be recovered by the fumbler.

The rules in place. It was not enforced.

The ncaa has a major problem on its hands with these 3rd rate officials

backwardpass.jpg

Per the SEC, the officials on the field used their discretion in ruling the part of the play in question a “backwards pass” and not a fumble, hence the “on 4th down…” part of the rule doesn’t come into play in their opinion.

@GUNNA GET IT

I always understood it that a back lateral can hit the ground but you can't advanced a forced fumble. I dunno, I could be wrong though?

What are the chances that Hue Jackson gets the SC job?

He's doing well in Cinci this season.  I haven't really seen his name come up for that job.

The only NFL guy with a legit chance of coming is Harbaugh, the Ravens are rebuilding, and he has West Coast ties.

Don't see Payton, no connection to the area, will be heavily sought after by the Dolphins along with other teams. Hue Jackson will not be seen as a home run hire, same boat as Herman and Fuentes.

It will be interesting to see, there's a lot of smoke with Harbaugh at the moment.

Hue will be a NFL HC next year.

Bartow did a poll of SFLA HS coaches asking who should get the job and Mario Cristobal was the overwhelming choice. He could kill recruiting down there.

Thoughts on MSU/NEB..I did not think that the defender forced the receiver out of bounds. There was some contact but not enough.

— Mike Pereira (@MikePereira) November 8, 2015
Replay can't judge on the force of the contact. All they could do at that point was to check the receiver being out of bounds.
— Mike Pereira (@MikePereira) November 8, 2015
Since there was some contact, replay can only get involved to see if the receiver went out of bounds.
— Mike Pereira (@MikePereira) November 8, 2015
Replay can also confirm that the the receiver had reestablished by coming back in bounds which he clearly did.

Yall got it, though.

They still went 90 yards in 4 plays. A top team wouldn't allow that nor let it come down to that *shrug*

Little bit I read from an "insider" regarding Cardale and the offense:

"was speaking to a prominent ex NFL player with ties to Ohio State---and here is what he had to say...

"its frustrating watching Cardale back there and its pretty easy for me to figure out what is going on.

I've seen the kid stand flat footed on the field and throw the ball 60 yards---so arm strength is not an issue.

but what people aren't recognizing is the difference between having the arm strength to get it there and the TIMING to get it there. Between the two, timing is way more important.

Cardale under throws everything because he is LATE with the ball---not that he doesn't have the "12 gauge" to get it there. He is late on deep shots. He is late on medium shots. He is late(and behind) on his slants. He is late to the outside(and almost got picked on the throw to Vannett)

What isn't widely known by the general public is that Cardale has a "guy" who is serving as his personal QB coach that is preparing him for the next level. A lot of what this "guy" is saying to him is consistent with what he is getting from the OSU staff---but its a lot of voices in his head. So now, it almost seems like Cardale has developed a "mental hitch" before he throws and its causing him to be late delivering the ball to the correct spot....or he just wont throw it at all into tight windows....

its also becoming a bone of contention with the wide receiving corps who is hearing a lot about their "deficiencies" like "inability to separate" etc etc (almost like JT hearing about his "weenie arm") and its frustrating to them as you see them consistently getting open on field and the ball just not being there on time or any where near on target---getting pretty heated on the side lines and in the locker room...

Meyer has to hand the ball back to JT and do it quickly before this becomes a bigger issue...."

I agree with you 100%.  Our secondary has been suspect all year, and that was the first thing that I mentioned as soon as the game ended (not the blown call).  It's just annoying when people try to defend an obvious screw up.

Missouri president Tim Wolfe resigns amid student criticism of his handling of racial issues

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The president of the University of Missouri system resigned Monday amid criticism of his handling of student complaints about race and discrimination.

President Tim Wolfe said Monday that his resignation is effective immediately. The announcement came at a special meeting of the university system's governing body, the Board of Curators.

"I take full responsibility for the actions that have occurred," Wolfe said. "I have asked everybody to use my resignation to heal. Let's focus in changing what we can change today and in the future, not what we can't change in the past."

Graduate student Jonathan Butler began a hunger strike last Monday, saying Wolfe should step down after failing to respond to student concerns about racial tension. Butler, appearing on CNN in the wake of Wolfe's resignation, said his strike is over.

"This is a great first step towards change," Butler said.

The complaints came to a head over the weekend, when at least 30 black football players announced they would not participate in team activities until Wolfe was removed or stepped down.

On Sunday, coach Gary Pinkel and athletic director Mack Rhoades issued a statement that Missouri did not practice Sunday and indicated "it was clear" the Tigers "do not plan to return to practice until Jonathan resumes eating."

Pinkel is expected to address the media on Monday afternoon.

For months, black student groups have complained of racial slurs and other slights on the overwhelmingly white flagship campus of the state's four-college system. Frustrations flared during a homecoming parade Oct. 10 when black protesters blocked Wolfe's car, and he did not get out and talk to them. They were removed by police.

Black members of the football team joined the outcry on Saturday night. By Sunday, a campus sit-in had grown in size, graduate student groups planned walkouts and politicians began to weigh in.

The Missouri Students Association, which represents the 27,000 undergraduates at the system's Columbia campus, also called for Wolfe to step down in a letter sent to the Missouri System Board of Curators on Sunday night.

The students say there has been an increase in "tension and inequality with no systemic support" since last year's fatal shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed black 18-year-old by a white police officer in Ferguson.

Information from ESPN.com's Brett McMurphy and The Associated Press was included in this report.

^ I was listening to the press conference... even though the prez was saying good things, you could tell he didn't want to resign.  Sounded like it was totally forced.  Im happy that the students got what they wanted though.

He sounded contrite to me.
Man made an apology and said he made mistakes along the way.
I take that at face value.
He didn't have to stand up there and talk, he could have just released a statement via a publicist.

Hope he has tolerance and understanding in his mind and heart from here on out

Chris Hawkins from USC posted this on Instagram:

"All the Instagram and Twitter fans that hate and have negative comments about players... You don't know what we go through, you can't bare realize the pressure we have to play this sport. While you guys watch from the stands we are on the field working. Trying to do everything in our power to get a Win. We appreciate the love and support you give us when everything is perfect, but when everything isn't OK the first thing you do is talk bad about us. So the next time something goes wrong relax and wait for the outcome!! #lifeofanathlete"

Payton was born in Northern California, coached at San Diego State for four years and his daughter is a freshman at Pepperdine.

Also apparently Chip's camp said he's not not interested :lol

Need to re-watch Bama/LSU (sober) but man, LF & that LSU OL had a loooooong night on Saturday
Their OL was ultra booty cheeks. LF had to make cuts right when he got the ball on handoffs the Bama DL was in the backfield all night long. Can't really blame the kid for only getting 31 yards.

Cris carter was saying on ESPN today that the result wasn't too surprising to him. He said that anytime Bama plays a team that runs a power I formation, or a pro style offense, it is easy for Bama to defend. They have backs and linemen who can easily simulate that in practice. When Bama plays somebody who runs a spread offense, it is much more difficult for them to defend as they don't really practice against that type of offense.

Eh, Bama has struggled against spread HUNH teams, most visibly since Manziel's Heisman year but it's not as simple as they don't really practice against that.

Stanford doesn't practice against the spread and for a while they owned Oregon and one of the greatest spread QBs ever.

TJ Moe (a former Mizzou player) is being extremely critical of the students forcing out the school president.
T.J. Moe@TJMoe28 8h8 hours ago

Players just gave the template for how to force the schools to start paying student-athletes.

T.J. Moe@TJMoe28 3h3 hours ago

@michaeldeangelo @CS_1950 Bigotry and racism aren't systematic oppression. Not saying its not there, but those incidents aren't them

T.J. Moe@TJMoe28 3h3 hours ago

@michaeldeangelo @CS_1950 Please tell me how a single on of those incidents were systematic oppression? Every single one was bigotry/racism

T.J. Moe@TJMoe28 3h3 hours ago

A place where everyone is always comfortable and no one is ever offended doesn't exist. It never will. Let's just work to get closer to it.

T.J. Moe@TJMoe28 15h15 hours ago

In today's social climate, is there anything worse than being called a racist? Even if the white players wanted to oppose, no way they would

T.J. Moe@TJMoe28 15h15 hours ago

And what if some of the black players wanted to oppose? Now you're not "down with the cause". Very little choice for those involved.

T.J. Moe@TJMoe28 15h15 hours ago

If I'm a leader in today's climate, I'd be petrified seeing that extreme measures by individuals can get anyone fired, regardless of fault

T.J. Moe@TJMoe28 14h14 hours ago

If the football players want to make a real impact on the student body, they'll volunteer to go speak at the diversity classes.

T.J. Moe@TJMoe28 14h14 hours ago

Nothing has brought cultures together in America more than football. Need to show society what America can be- how it is in the locker room.
Not really ironically, T.J. Moe is the same player who once boasted about how he bought the flag of William Quantrill and hung it in the locker room and it's still hanging there -- presumably because current players don't know what it means.

CTaoJbzU8AAZRVF.jpg:large

William Quantrill was a confederate guerilla army leader during the civil war who committed a number of atrocities.

Funny that he promotes the civil war and rebellion, but thinks players protesting for what they feel is right, is going too far.

Dude is loving this spotlight, though.
