OFFICIAL 2014 FANTASY BASEBALL THREAD

I actually have a keeper league that lost two managers, looking for two new active bodies. We keep 4 annually, list your email if u want invite or send pm. League is in its 9th season
I messaged you a while back. When the thread started. Lol..

I'll pm you again with the details.

I have thought it over, and since I'm so close to my own draft, I've done enough research to this point that I can give my take on some solid, breakout players / guys I'm targeting.
------------------------------------------

C - Brian McCann - For whatever reason, he is being treated like a bottom barrel catcher. The move to the Yankees and the short porch should net him minimum 22-25 HRS. Obviously with McCann is about health, so if he stays healthy I can see a 25 hr, 85 rbi, .270 avg season and that should put him up there as one of the top catchers in Fantasy. Seeing how you can probably get him after round 12 that's great value.

C - Miguel Montero, Derek Norris, Yan Gomes - If you want to really wait for Catcher, all three of these guys will be servicable. Montero is coming off a injury so he's been forgotten. Norris no one really knows because he's fairly new and plays in Oakland and Gomes is another late round quality value player.

1B - Jose Abreu - This guy is no longer a secret, everyone is talking about him. The White Sox are known to be able to find the Cubans, and the potential for Abreu is greater then that of Cespedes. He's going pretty late so keep him in your queue.

1B - Anthony Rizzo - The Cubs slugger showed signs of serious power but trailed off. Many are saying this is going to be his breakout year.

1B - Justin Moreneau - The move to Colorado should really help. As long as he stays healthy, and that's a big if. He's not the same player he was in Minnesota now with 2 concussions, but he's certainly someone to keep an eye out.

2B - Jason Kipnis - Yes, not a secret, but I love his skill set and want him on all my teams. With Cano going to Seattle, Fantasy wise I think you can argue that Kipnis is going to have a more productive season.

2B - Jedd Gyorko - Already showing mid 20's HR power out of 2B, this is my man crush of the year. I think he will show more leaps and will be a top 10 2B at the end of the year. He's going really late so value is certainly there on a bad Padres team.

2B - Matt Carpenter - He was a big reason why I won my championship last year, I'll always be a fan. Versatile, multi-positions, great team.

2B - Jed Lowrie - If he stays healthy he is a beast, plain and simple.

2B - Aaron Hill - Very solid player, has shown consistency in categories but never all together in one season, if he puts it all together based on avg numbers he's a top 5 2B

3B - Josh Donaldson - Many people are saying he can't repeat his success from last year, but I like his numbers and he put on some muscle over the offseason. Plus he's a fun follow on twitter!

3B - Nolan Arenado - Another young player with serious talent. And he plays in Coors.

SS - J.J. Hardy - 25 HRS from the SS position. And he just got an extension

SS - Evereth Cabrera - Steals with some pop, could potentially be a serious 20/20 SS for the next few years.

OF - Jayson Werth - He's been essentially forgotten after a few mediocre seasons, but the lineup is poised to be competitive and his power is still there.

OF - Norichika Aoki - The move to KC is going to be great. Not only for him but the team, I'm loving their offense this year, but I feel like we've said that many times before. Aoki will lead off for an exciting team.

OF - Khris Davis - With Braun back in the lineup, Davis should benefit a ton from hitting behind him.

OF - Adam Eaton - He was suppose to be a massive stud in Arizona then got hurt, and forgetten. Now with Chicago, he should be solid.

OF - Michael Morse - The power was never a doubt, he's now moved a few times and landed in SF. He's starting and should blast shots into the Cove. You can get him late and he may help win you HRs this year.

SP - Danny Salazar - I'm on board the hype train

SP - Mashahiro Tanaka - The guy has 7 pitches, he's filthy and has good command. Gonna get a ton of K's and ground ball outs.

SP - Doug Fister - Ever since he was in Seattle, he was a pitcher on everyone's radar. Now he's with Washington and part of arguably the best pitching staff in baseball. Monitor his health in ST but he's definitely poised for a big season.

SP - Sonny Gray - Once again, I'm driving the hype train

SP - Andrew Cashner - 98-100mph regularly, pitches in Petco. Ace of the staff.

SP - Marco Estrada - The guy has great stuff, a nasty breaking ball. Once he locks in command he should be a very serviceable pitcher, hopefully getting to about 14-15 wins and a sub 4 ERA

Once again, asking if there are 9 others here interested in joining a keeper league for a league buy-in of $200?

Please let me know asap

Had my draft last night. 10 team 6x6 keeper league. We all keep 5 players, they can be kept for a maximum of 2 years and then they go back into the draft. We play with Holds as a category for pitchers to deepen the player pool and this year we eliminated OBP and Losses categories.

My keepers were

Chris Davis
Ryan Braun
Prince Fielder
Yu Darvish
Max Scherzer

I won the league last year, but in order to do so I traded some picks in this years draft to obtain stars from teams that were tanking. In result it put me in a tough spot in this draft as I was without my first 2 picks and a few throughout the draft. Don't know if I'll do that again because it simply took too big of a toll on my team. I had to make a few reaches and overall my team will rely on breakout performances and high upside guys. Although I do think I balanced the team out well.

C. Yadier Molina
1B. Chris Davis
2B. Jurickson Profar
3B. Kyle Seager

projections for billy hamilton this season? he is getting a lot of hype lately. not even sure if hes worth an OF2 spot

this is why is hate drafting this early in march for leagues......i have both Beachy and Medlen in one money league and Medlen in the other one :{

Good SP in both leagues are already slim as is >:

alright fellas, any open fantasy leagues out here?

preferrably espn?

I traded away my Mike Napoli for Dee Gordon. I really need stolen bases and if he plays the whole season, he can give a good 50-60 stolen bases. Good trade?

i doubt he's playing a full season. he'll platoon at 2nd with turner and get some spot starts in at ss when hanley rests or god forbide gets hurt.

even less if guerrero gets called up and produces

He's awful even if he does play a full season. Another one who can't hit and doesn't know how to fundamentally get on base.

If they stick him 8th though and let his defense do the talking, he'll probably stick around for a bit. He's a very good defensive second baseman.

So I should protest the trade then?

Also, what do you think of trading away my Ervin Santana, Danny Salazar, and Doug Fister for Tulo and Chris Tillman? Or replace one of those three pitchers with Ajax?

he's being drafted really high for being so unproven. Yes he can steal 50-100 bases assuming he gets on base. That's what worries me. His offense is a big ? and the plate discipline.

You draft him in hopes he wins you the steals category outright.

I'm in on Dee Gordon.

He put on weight and is having a much better ST then expected. He's going to win the job and hopefully play everyday. If so, he should steal 50 bases and score a ton of runs in that offense

Salazar has huge upside and great stuff.

Santana is in a good spot in ATL.

Fister as long as he recovers and gets health will be rock solid for Wash.

Tulo is an often injured SS and you can't predict what Tillman will give you.

I'll take the pitchers over Tulo in this deal
