Speaking of which, whatever happened to Peter Quillen
nerd.gif
he is on the dany Garcia VS judah card.his fight got pushed back like the whole card did.
Abraham has a belt at 168 that he's still defending. And I thought Pascal already signed to fight Bute?
dont think they made it offical yet till they find chad anothe fight, because pascal VS Chad was alredy signed.
Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer revealed his plans to launch a junior welterweight tournament this year. Schaefer plans to match up the winner of the WBC/WBA/Ring Junior Welterweight championship fight ...between Danny Garcia and Zab Judah against the winner of the IBF Junior Welterweight championship fight between Lamont Peterson and Lucas Matthysse. The winners of these two fights will then fight each other and meet Amir Khan in the final.

Quillin is defending the WBO title next month against Fernando Guerrero.

yea but thats tavoris cloud for you.

He fights that way, one punch at a time.

Believe me, Hopkins is hand picking the proper opponents to do this against.

10 years ago, wouldnt have mattered, now he has to be very selective
This is all true as well.  There were a few times in the fight it looked like Cloud could put some punches together and change the pace but he didn't do anything with it smh.  Not too many opponents left for Hopkins to fight with his style you're exactly right.

- With this Broner v Malignaggi set up, I hate to say it but I think Broner will walk right through him.  Paulie is one of my favorite fighters inside and out the ring but if he doesn't stick and move all night long I have a feeling Broner win via stoppage.

I too think Broner will get past Paulie fairly easily.  Malignaggi's legs aren't the same as they once were, and he doesn't have any pop to keep Adrien at bay.  Adrien will probably stand in the pocket and sit on his punches.  On the other hand, if Paulie can fire the jab, land clean shots, get in and out, all while avoiding any major punishment things could get interesting.

I wanted Broner to wipe out 140 don't like his move to 147 hopefully he moves back down. I'd prefer a Broner vs Rios fight after Rios fights Alvarado

I watched Rios vs. Alvarado again. Damn that was a brutal fight. Can't wait for the rematch. I'm gunning for Alvarado this time.

I have a feeling that Trout vs Canelo will be the next Marquez vs Pacquiao. They will face each other several times with close, controversial decisions.

From everything they've been saying, it sounds like it'll be a one and done at 147.

It was a blatant cherry pick.  Paulie is the weakest of the 147 lb. belt holders, and he skipped over the entire Jr. Welterweight division, which would have made for more competitive and appealing fights.  Rios, Matthysse, Peterson, Garcia etc.

Has anyone landed a Really Crisp punch on Matthysse yet?

I cant really remember Zab landing a crunching blow but I know he out in some good work early

how has he been able to get away with not being quick and not having a turtle shell defense to have not been touched up so far

I don't think I've seen him get touched with anything really significant.  He handles traditional boxers, and guys who like to move fairly well.  Now that I think about it, his inside game hasn't really been tested.  I think his pressure combined with the fact that he has good power in both hands keeps fighters weary.

Just watched him Eat one of Zab's patented Counter Upper cuts in the 3rd round and all Luc did was tap his own chin and smile...

He may have a Brick for a chin. Not sure, I want to re watch the Alexander fight too

I can't wait for his fight with Lamont Peterson.  Unlike Judah and Alexander, Lamont is relentless with pressure and has a ton of heart.  He will keep coming forward and stay close on the inside.  The one thing that worries me about Lamont is that he will sometimes pull back with his upper-body while remaining directly in front of his opponent.  That's not a wise thing to do against a puncher like Lucas.

All the top guys in the Jr. welterweight division have fights lined up. It's an easy opportunity for Broner to win a belt and gain more exposure.

I would tend to believe that Matthysse has a good chin. The top Argentinian boxers, i.e. Maidana and Abregu, have solid chins and can take a good punch. I've never seen him really affected by a punch. But I've also never seen anyone who was willing to get inside and trade with Matthysse.

If Lamont comes forward the whole fight vs Lucas, he might not wont make it :lol

IMO Lucas is the class of the Jr welters...

His body punches is the difference maker.

does he still train with Sergio Martinez's camp?

If they could make the fight, Broner vsMatthysse is fight of the year...

There is something wrong with his back. Kind of like scoliosis.

Dang, I didn't know that.

I have Matthysse, Peterson and Garcia as the best 140 lb'ers.  I'm not a big fan of Danny Garcia though.  I believe that Amir Khan would beat him in a rematch if he is 100% focused and motivated.  Aside from his chin, he still has a lot of talent as well as some of the fastest hands in boxing.

I have Brandon Rios as the best at 140 and Lucas Matthysse is up there as well. But I think they can both be beaten maybe by Adrien Broner if he proves he can take a punch when tested by real competition.

I would have loved to see Rios fight Broner this summer, but with the Top Rank/Golden Boy feud it was obviously out of the question.
