Worst Day In Grand Slam History...

I don't ever remember a day where all the matches were this bad... The fans should be rioting for a refund for this trash. Hopefully with Tsonga/Haas being the last match left they provide a little bit of entertainment.

The high-quality tennis is back... Murray really stepped up his game, while Rafa did just enough (still not vintage Rafa yet though).   These guys meet in the quarters.
JMDP upset bay Cilic, while Justine, despite quite a bit of errors, made some awesome shots.  Safina retired due to an injured back resulting in Kiri advancing to the quarters (her best result yet).

EDIT ~ Great match between Arod and Gonzo... bit of a shame how it ended with Gonzo's meltdown in the 5th...

This Verdasco/Davydenko match is amazing. There's no reason Verdasco should still be on court but somehow he has managed to take it to a 5th set. Davydenko should have blown him off the court by now but looks like he's about to choke this thing away.

Verdasco's numbers going into the 5th set:
17 double faults
68 unforced errors

Those numbers would make Dementieva & Sharapova disgusted...

Amazing... as in poor.  I started watching during the 3rd set, but really, Davy should have taken this in 3 if not 4 sets.  But I dunno if it was nerves, but he was so tentative, and was almost waiting for Verdasco to make the mistakes.  Both guys were playing 'not to lose' rather than playing to win. 

As if Verdasco's 81 unforced errors wasn't bad enough, he had 20 double faults to end it.

compared to Roddick vs. Gonzo last night...

Gonzo, alone, had more winner than Davy and Verd combined.

Yeah well, Hewitt, despite the score, played quite well... Fed was just on top of his game as well, so it was really no contest.  He was hitting all the lines and you just can't beat that.

Azarenka winning 10 games in a row to knock off Zvonareva. She is by far the worst of all the grunters on the court. Couldn't watch it w/the volume on.

That Tsonga/Almagro match was amazing. Tons of shot-making and low unforced errors. I +$$#% with Tsonga he's probably my favorite tennis player after Nadal.

As for tonight, %*+$'s about to hit the fan in the quarters. A-Rod vs Marin Cilic and Nadal vs Murray. Gotta root for my boy Roddick and Nadal.

Also, since when was Chris Fowler doing tennis coverage for ESPN? I know he's been doing it for the past couple years but dude is fairly knowledgeable about tennis. I always thought he was just mainly a college football guy.....
