OFFICIAL 2010-2011 NBA PLAYOFFS THREAD : VOL. MOST. ANTICIPATED. PLAYOFFS. EVER?

I just don't see Kevin Martin as our KG, Pau Gasol, or whatever piece you'd like to call it that would put us over the top.

Our 1, 4, and 5 spots are solid right now, I can't complain.

And the 2/3 spots split between Caron, Beaubois when healthy, Marion, and JET?

I can live with that.

Unless we're getting someone like Iguodala, I don't see us getting any high profile players like Kevin Martin that would put us over the top.

That's my point KLJ.

Guy gets hyped up one minute and the next he's stinking it up.

It's like saying Darko should be an all-star after putting up 25-15 in one game and then the next game he's back to his ol' 9-6.

It's hard to agree w/someone saying he should be an all-star when we all know his 1 good game is an aberration.

Same w/you saying Thornton is so good after having a decent game. It was an aberration.

In other words, he is who we thought he was: a guy worthy of getting DNPCD's

He gets to the line, sure, but I don't want to ruin what we got right now.

Plus, we're short on bigs if we lose Haywood, and that's reportedly what the Rockets want.

Jason Terry can knock down big shots, and has been playing consistent defense, I don't know that Kevin Martin would.

Plus, K-Mart is an eye-sore on defense. Caron Butler is a much better defender, much bigger, stronger. Kevin would get abused.
What exactly is it that you "don't want to ruin"? Another regular season championship?

JA, is the Mavs offense really struggling that bad that they would need to consider adding a one-dimensional scorer in Kevin? Caron isn't exactly a slouch and has proven in the past to be able to score. Jet+Roddy are always a nice shot. So I just don't see the need to add the guy.

Nah, there were some rumors of a Brendan Haywood for Kevin Martin swap, and I said I'd pass.

Kevin Martin is an excellent shooter, and he's very good at getting foul calls, but he's not THAT much better than Jason Terry in my eyes. Plus, Jason has increased his defense this year, and I really like what he's done for the Mavericks this year.

And we'd have to give up our back-up Center, which may not seem like much, but it SURE as hell will if Tyson goes down.

That's my whole concern.

If we're going to trade for someone, I don't want someone who's slightly better than Jason Terry.

I want someone who's slightly better than Caron Butler, because he's the piece most-likely to not be apart of this team in the near future.

It's the same damn team as last year, but with Chandler, and a year older.  That's it.

And if I suddenly hear that Tyson Chandler is the key to a Championship, I'ma lose it.

They play terrific in the regular season when you don't have time to scout them, when it's a 7 game series, and adjustments to be made/matchups, etc etc, they get exposed.  Clock and work.   Nothing has changed.  I dunno about Orlando route and blow it up or none of that, but adding a peice or two, yeah, I could handle that.

...

Who thinks that, exactly?

Perhaps you missed the entire 2009 season.

I ain't saying he's the key to a championship, but we can't let him go either way.

And most importantly, with him, it's a position on the roster we don't have to worry about.

With our 2 and 3, that's the issue.

What happens if Tyson Chandler goes down? Gets hurt?

Haywood isn't the greatest, but our Center rotation without Chandler, and having Kevin Martin is Ian and Ajinca.

I don't care how good Kevin Martin is, if we don't have EITHER Chandler NOR Haywood we aren't EVER winning anything.

I'm just saying, why are people acting like KEVIN MARTIN is the answer to all of Dallas' problems?

See last year's playoffs (and prior years)...Dirk was the only reliable scorer. JET disappeared, Kidd got ran off the three point line, Caron wasn't efficient, etc.

It will be interesting to see if Dallas can beat Miami with the team clicking now.
