It's great for Westbrook and the OKC organization

WB is that dude

It's no surprise. WB has always been on his own instead of following other people

Russ got what he wanted when KD left. The keys to the building are his and his alpha no longer up for debate.

Love the fact that he has absolutely no bias and recognizes Melo had played the majority of his NY career with awful talent around him. He respects his talent and knows when he has support he's a top 5 player in the game

I think someone in here put me on to coach nick and he really deserves more praise for his work. Its hard as a knicks fan to listen to anyone on espn talk about us or melo cause they all push their agenda.

But if we can have some solid ball movement and spacing Melo should be able to thrive.

Watching everyone stand there looking at Melo while he has the ball is rough

Those clips of us running the "triangle" last year was soooo rough to watch. Players looked absolutely clueless and helpless. Kind of feel bad for Melo for what he had to insure the last few years

Next to Lebron, I wanted to see no one else in a Knicks uni than Russ... but I have to respect him and give him credit for staying.

I would have loved to see him here, but honestly I think it was a long shot so who knows, maybe we'll get a chance in a few years.

And yes.. Sheed as a Knick was one of my favorite players ever.

Not that I thought Westbrook was coming, but what are you guys thoughts on him signing an extension with Okc?

He's an idiot. He should've waited it out and went into FA with more money on the table. He's also going to be OK with losing for the next couple of years? Let's be serious here. OKC isn't going to do anything with the roster they have now.

Westbrook should've went into FA next year and then signed the mega deal. Something tells me this extension was more for security. Why sign a 3-year deal though?

He's a real one. I respect it.

He may be a real one, but he'll be a real loser now. No one is going to want to go to OKC and play with him. He drove away the 3rd best player in the league :lol

**** the OKC organization. They inherited a stacked team that belonged to Seattle. They never deserved any of the success they got. I want to see just how enthusiatic these OKC fans will be once the team is utter crap. I'm talking NY Knicks level of utter crap too.

It's amazing. Who would've thought NBA players and people who actually know basketball appreciates Melo? :lol

^ Westbrook's 'extension' is basically a 1 year deal.

He'll be a free agent in 2018.

up as opposed to 2017. basically it was a one year extension which restructured his current deal to give him more money. its not like he signed for 5 more years on top of his current deal.

It'll also make him available to sign the ten year vet max which would give him a max of 35% of the cap vs 30%

Unlikely but I hope deez refs hop on the Melo wagon and actually start giving him respek and calls now. And related, but that dude starts finishing at the rim (maybe health and lack of calls related?) Between his folly and the refs, son has been losing like 3-4 easy PPG at the basket/FT line for the last few years.

IF Melo got most of the calls the refs missed, he would be averaging around 28 ppg :lol

That's the issue with Melo. He's so physical and gets banged up in the paint often, but the refs see this as him making the contacting. It's different for a guy like Harden who basically drives to the basket and gets hit. The difference is de minimis, but I can see why Melo hardly gets calls.
