**Official '11 NYK LOCKOUT thread*** lockout over

So yall playing Boston in first round ? good luck because it's a 1st round exit in the making

You do realize the playoffs don't start today right?

As of now, yes we would play Boston. Or we can take back the 6th and play Miami... or stay in 7 and Boston can overtake the Bulls and we play Chicago... or a couple different things can happen.

I think Orlando gives us the worst matchups since no one will stop Dwight and their 3 point shooters would punish our lazy defense. But no matchup would be easy, we haven't played a healthy Bulls, the Celtics have experience, and the Heat can keep up with us if we play fast plus they play great team defense.

I ain't worried. It seems Knicks play better when they play against above .500 teams. We will be fine in the playoffs.

By the way, Pakistan handed Australia's first loss in the Cricket World Cup.

I hate the heat but at least they play defense and even box out once in a while

we don't play well in Milwaukee or during afternoon games so i will be shocked if we win. Knowing us we will lose tomorrow and beat the Celtics

I'm fine with facing the Bulls or MIA. Don't want no parts of ORL and don't like playing the Celts either cuz even if we managed to push it to 7 I think they'd win. I think we can upset MIA or Chi in 6.

Source: Carmelo was ticked at referees, not D'Antoni

MILWAUKEE -- Carmelo Anthony was not pouting at Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni or his teammates. He was not ticked he took just 12 shots in Detroit Friday night.

According to people familiar with the situation, Anthony refused to talk to the media and bolted for the team bus because of his anger at the referees not calling a foul on Chris Wilcox on his potential game-tying finger roll with 36 seconds left. Anthony didn't want to potentially incur a fine.

TV replays showed that Anthony was touched on the arm by Wilcox on the missed layup -- at least Anthony and the coaching staff agreed on something.

the rest of the article is basically a rehash of other articles. But Melo is realizing that when you put on that orange and blue you get no love from the refs. Wilcox also pushed Amare in the face during the end of the game and no foul was called. Jones was boddying him up during the pacer games also.

I haven't seen him get superstar calls like I thought he would

Idk, still have yet to really see him run the pick and roll well with anyone. But he has the scoring ability, even though his decision making still makes me yell at the tv from time to time...I think he could become a very good 6th man/backup off the bench if he doesn't chuck 30 ft 3s so much...

I'm not too worried about this team, we started off 3-8 and it's not like the defense wasn't this bad when we had Gallo guarding 2s and Amare at the 5. Just wanna see them come together by the playoffs and put up a good fight. Only reason I'm mad is I see Amare getting pushed around alot and looking for help from the refs instead of standing his ground and pushing back, and Melo letting people get the offensive rebound from him at the end of a game bc they want it more. That's not on a Dantoni, or anyone but them. Chris Wilcox *****made Amare on Friday, and that was just 1 of many other occurances we've seen recently...not a good look at all. We should get Oakley back as an ast. coach for a week

Toney can be a starter if we have a player who can handle PG duties majority of the time. I was in support of keeping him to be our starting PG if we got Lebron since he would have the ball in his hands most often.

very negative post in the spoiler. knicks fan discretion is advised but recommended for a real outlook on our future.

Spoiler [+]
this team isnt going to be any better next year because we cant add pieces through free agency in order to retain cap flexibility for the 2012 class.

its going to take a 1st round series win or maybe even forcing a game 7 for me to get over the selfishness of melo+dolan which at this point looks VERY unlikely. and the worst part is that teams like the bulls and heat are only going to get better next year and add pieces when we potentially will remain stagnant or LOSE players like our d12 stopper shawne williams because we have to play the waiting game again and have ZERO pieces left to jack cp3/d12. so i hope you guys are ready to wait until 2013 playoffs to have a real team in the postseason, and even then we're going to be a big 3 with major holes and have to play the waiting game again until 2014 playoffs to have role players with our team. this trade really set us back because the teams that win have complete rosters.

Amare and Melo are two of my favorite individual players, but we want a championship and the way we're constructed is fugazi word to tim thomas.

As much as I love what Amare has done for the knicks and NYC, this teams not going to work out in the long run unless you guys are cool with waiting from 2008 until 2014. and no vet ring chasers are joining a team with zero defense with the pressure from the fans+media to win in nyc so don't bank on that.

Basically what i'm getting to is....we NEED Dwight Howard. trade melo or amare for him next year when his version of "melodrama" happens (preferably Amare even though I like him better than melo, but it would work better.) and then add Deron or CP3 in the 2012 offseason. OR...you recruit dwight and cp/deron and get them to commit in the 2012 offseason if dwight stays in orlando. then find a team willing to take amare or melo in a salary dump. That would give us a legitimate championship core of players who compliment each other properly. we'd have the superstardom and defensive presence to actually attract vets who know what it takes to win.

i'm not saying blow up the team, but 40 mil a year committed to players who cant play defense or give 10+ boards a game without quality role players (like the ones unnecessarily traded for carmelo as opposed to waiting a few more months and signing him as an FA) won't get you a title.

and happy birthday homie

Is it still to early to judge since Melo has only been here for a lil or we are doing the same as before the trade

. Think it is obvious that if we would have dumped others on the bench and been able to keep Wilson and Gallo we would of looked much better.

Not gonna happen. We just got Amare, I'd say hes gonna stay here for atleast 3-4 yrs before he's moved and i have a feeling carmelo will prolly retire as a knick now. and honestly we don't need Dwight. A nice decent center like Marc Gasol, or D.jordan (clippers) is gonna enough. and then try to get cp3 or dwill. and we could be straight. I do agree with you on the waiting part. We can't just keep waiting and waiting for something to happen and then when it fails, to just wait again and again, something needs to happen but not give up on melo or amare.
