Wow I never knew dantoni rejected thib as an assistant head coach. I knew he was stubborn, but damn.

But here's my take on the current situation
I was watching the game in the first half and knew we would lose. We weren't getting many stops. Plus the game was a back and forth game. We only win these type of games when we are lights out from 3.
We definitely need a defensive assistant or something because our defense sucks. And let's be for real, why is herb Williams an assistant? I'm sorry but I doubt he is helping the team with anything.

Now, I also believe everyone is overreacting. I think people got too excited when we beat Miami and saw the potential this team has. But keep in mind, alot of players won't be here next year and most won't be here 2 years from now. Everyone is bashing billups, billups is nice so people just need to calm down. Let him get back into the flow of things and just chill.

Everyone is acting like this team is destined to win the chip now. we ain't winning +*+* yet. We have too many holes to fill still and this is still a team being built. Lord knows Amare doesn't know a thing about defense so dont expect the knicks to go anywhere until we have a solid center and a solid backup center too.

Man, I look at Amare on defense sometimes and I can't believe he's making max money. And I want to say, I have been Calling out Amare on his defense and boxing out habits for a while now. I'm glad everyone is seeing it now though. Dude is so terrible on defense b. And he always brushes it off when questioned about players giving him fits. He must have taken that note from dantoni. Now when I look at melo on defense, I see him trying at least. The media is always bashing melo on his defense, but honestly his defense is better than amare's and he's also a better rebounder than Amare too. Comparing melo and amare, I'd say melo is the better overall player. Amare gets me so +*$@*$! tight sometimes when I watch the game man. He always gets lazy on defense. Always. Just watch y'all. Dude is so soft on defense that's why it's so important that we get a good defensive big. I also think it's important that we get someone who is a defensive captain. Someone who will shout at dudes like Amare when they make a mistake on defense.

I'm tired of people bringing up the nuggets. We gave up the pieces let's move on. Nuggets ain't winning no chips no time soon either.

I kept refreshing ESPN on my phone like this can't be right

We still got a good month to right the ship. These games against sub .500 teams would've been great momentum builders....they need to stop playing down to the competition. 6-2 against teams over .500. 1-5 against teams under .500. The problem is motivation.

It's interesting how there are two pages complaining about D'Antoni and Stoudemire, who at least made this team exciting and fun for the first half of the season, and barely a mention of the beloved new Anthony who played disgustingly badly—2/12 with 6 points?  And it's not like those are rhythm shots he gets in the offense and misses.  Instead he stares at the basket for 10 seconds before shooting a contested J.
Amare had 20 and 12 on 50% shooting and people are jumping on him...  Very interesting.  Carmelo is playing like crap and, more importantly, pouting when he makes a mistake—doesn't look like a leader out there to me.  We went from maybe the best 1-8 chemistry in the league (ok, everyone but TD) to literally no chemistry at all.

Me and my boys been saying this since Melo came, like oh...this is what a max player is like? Amar'e is dumb. Like he's a natural at scoring, but he's just really dumb. He can't think quick enough to put his hands up to take a rebound or understand that he's not a wing player...he's the center...when he gets out of the way, there's no help coming. Amar'e should be making Boozer money. It sucks, but it is what it is. I mean he could be Rashard and he ain't.

...and leadership.
I know Melo isn't that kind of guy, but STAT should get in players faces. Problem is neither play defense consistently so there is no credibility if STAT gets in someone's face to play defense. *shrugs

I don't normally complain about Pringles but we really need to focus on the defensive end of the basketball.

that article is making something out of nothing... its really not that serious... and i don't think you can make judgments from just one game... ill wait until the end of next year to judge this trade... that will be 1 whole year that they played together melo and amare...

im not worried about the nuggets doing well and us slacking a little bit. sure im a little pissed about it but its nothing unexpected. this trade wasnt about this year. any reasonable NY fan could tell you that we gave u alot for Melo and because of so we are a few pieces away. but fact is we play in the world's best basketball city in the biggest market and have 2 legit superstars. the pieces will fall into place eventually, trust me, players will be running to sign here over the next few years, especially because we can offer them top minutes/ a starting job possibly so long they are not a wing of a 4.

yeah we were way deeper before the trade, but with our old team you cant just randomly aquire a superstar just like that... especially cause we pretty much have no draft picks. however with this team the depth can be aquired. thats the main difference. maybe for this season we are only a little bit better than before the trade which has some of yall wondering "why give up young assets to only be a little bit better?" but in the future once we get the pieces will need, this trade will pay off, and melo will have a HOF carreer in NY.

I also think it's important that we get someone who is a defensivecaptain. Someone who will shout at dudes like Amare when they make amistake on defense.
this is why we should get rid of _'Antoni. I know alot of yall are gonna be against me on this but he really is not a good coach. He doesnt prezch defense or rebounding and he is an "offensive mastermind" who is probably the worst offensive play designer i have ever seen in my lets say 13 years of at least pretty intensely watching basketball. Forrreal homie is not even a good offensive coach, he just lets his teams run wild and that %#*$ worked well in Phoenix when they were undersized, had athletic players, grreat shooters, and Steve Nash but its not the case with this team. This system is not gonna work with Melo and even if it did you cannot go deep in the playoffs with coaching that bad.

when you say we need a "defensive captain" i could somewhat agree with that, but what we really need is a defensive minded coach. When you have your 2 franchise players who are fantastic in all aspects of the game but notoriously a liability on defense, why have a coach thatknows nothing about defense? Im telling you, and i know it will be scrutinized but i dont really give a %+@%, tthis team would be 10000x better with Mark Jackson as coach. He is young, would relate to the players which D'Antoni is not even doing right now, he is from NY and will bring instant energy, and will preach defense. These guys would be busting their !++ off for Mark Jackson and he would not tolerate defensive/rebounding efforts (2 offensive boards to lose to the Pstons) like we have been acustomed to lately. Yall gonna bring up experience and %#*$ but %+@% that, he could be a great coach, and he is never gonna be an assistant, because he already has a great job as a commentator so you can cross that off the list. However he is intelligent, one of the great NYC PGs and have been around the game his entire life and knows MSG bball. I will take his energy over D'Antoni's "experience" and however inexperienced a guy like Jackson is (even though hes been around bball his entire life) there is no possible way he could be worse at drawing up plays and running an effective offense than Mike _'Antoni, and the defense would improve ridiculously. If you want experience give him an experienced head assistant to help him out when he needs. This team will go nowhere with _'Antoni, %#*$ is pathetic, and i am not just saying this now. I have been skeptical of him since day 1 and truly do not believe he is a good basketball coach, especially for this team, especially for a NY team.

ps waddup NT

it's dissappointing but this is New York Knicks basketball at its finest. Lets all get hyped because t.d ties a record and the knicks blow out a playoff team like the grizz because this d"antoni offense was actually working( they were draining threes like crazy). but then lets go to detroit and lose a game because they clearly werent hungry enough. this knicks squad is like a pregnant woman, so many mood swings. one day they come toplay and the emotion is there. other days it looks like no one wants to be on the court. .im done complaining though, i'm used to it just like you guys probably are

That article for the most part was a bunch of bs.

The part him barking at TD is a good sign cuz I thought he was rather passive in the game. There was this one play on a 2on 1 fastbreak and TD opts not to pass it to Melo when he's right there and instead dumps it off to the trailer. It was shh like that I was noticing when I said dudes were just not passing Melo the ball.

@The GR8. Stop it. Nobody would be busting anything for Mark Jackson. He has absolutely no coaching experience on a NBA level or with superstar players. Saying he can be a great coach with nothing supporting that AT ALL outside of the things he says when he commentates is basically saying any of those former players commentating or working as analysts can be great coaches. Being around bball all your live don't mean you can coach it. I'd sooner want JVG back. I don't understand this blind faith that the defense would "improve ridiculously" if he were to coach this team.

Why not make Clyde coach? He's not a fan of matador defense or Swiss cheese D. He'd make sure the Knicks never make cross court passes or leave their feet to pass. The Knicks would never commit a charge and always pull up for the baby jumper. We'd be percolating, posting and toasting, dishing and swishing and all that. At least Clyde played under a great coach that won some rings.

Bringing in Mark just seems like some home town bias. I can totally see Mark failing. This team needs an actual great coach capable of putting us on an elite level. Not a rookie.

Word to what Kn0wledgable said this team won't be the same team next season or the season after that. It's crazy how since we got Melo all of yall have been overreacting on another level like Pringles hasn't been the coach. He's not going to be fired any time soon. There aren't any good coaches available yet. Deal with it. You really want him gone? Pray and hope we don't make the playoffs.

i'm used to it...so I don't really make a big deal of it lol

now when playoff time comes around...oh boy lol...

I dont know how realistic this is but, I feel like we shouldnt extend Billups until we pursue Deandre Jordan. And also to try to draft a decent PG in the draft, like Kemba. Keep the money and sign players around melo and stat and not go after a third max.
