I was in the middle of the Sylmar/Lake View Terrace fire. I was staring at the flames in my backyard at 6am, scary stuff.
By 9am the flames started to decrease, and a lot of homes were saved.

We had a mandatory evacuation, but things cooled down luckily.

I'll post a pic from my backyard soon....

Its crazy. You can pretty much bet money that there's going to be a big fire somewhere in So Cal come October. I guess its the unofficial way that fallbegins here. In some places the leaves turn brown, in So Cal they catch on fire. Being in West L.A., I'm not usually directly affected, but I could smellthe smoke in the air this weekend.

Let's just hope this fire doesn't spread, hell it's been jumping freeways onto resident homes, it could even reach CSUN right now.

There are already reports that there a fire in Van Nuys as well.

Living in south central ftw.

Seriously, hope everyone that lives in SFV is safe. I was in Lakeview Terrace Saturday and it was cool. That fire spread fast

I've never seen such a sight, you can literally see the fire spreading right before your eyes, within minutes.

This is crazy, people's houses are burning up in Porter Ranch

Well you are evacuated immediately if your home is being threatened.

What they do is map out the site, and predict what time the fire will hit certain homes, and get 'em out quickly.

But luckily we didn't have to evacuate in the morning.

i used to live in San Bernardino and every year there would be a fire right behind my house on the hill and it would burn and we had to evacuate every year!!soo lame! ... last year me and my man drove out to Ontario to pick up some shoes and there were all the fires and everyone was put up in hotels... it smelledlike a bonfire everywhere .... raining ash, was horrible weather....
