Comedian Dane Cook's business-manager brother has been arrested and charged with embezzling millions of dollars from the Arlington-raised entertainer.

Darryl J. McCauley, 43, of Wilmington, will be arraigned at Woburn District Court this morning.

There, he'll answer to charges that he forged his younger brother's signature on a $3 million check and then deposited it into his personal account.

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley said McCauley was the longtime business manager for a "national entertainer with local ties" whose name was not disclosed.

Sources including Cook's lawyer, Joseph H. Zwicker, confirmed that Cook is the entertainer referred to by the attorney general. Zwicker declined comment and Cook could not be reached.

McCauley is listed as the vice president of Great Dane Enterprises Inc., Dane Cook's entertainment company. State records show that he was removed from the corporation on Dec. 15.

Several published reports describe McCauley as Cook's brother and the source of a well-known comedic routine, about working for his brother at a Burger King.

Cook often jokes that McCauley, as the manager of the fast-food joint, thought he was "the burger king."

Coakley's office said McCauley has been the entertainers' business manager from the early 1990s to sometime this month.

She said the entertainer and his lawyer referred the case to authorities two weeks ago.

Massachusetts State Police arrested McCauley in Wilmington yesterday.

McCauley has been accused of stealing millions of dollars from his client from July 2007 through December 2008. He allegedly transferred the money from his client's account into his own account without his client's permission.

McCauley will be arraigned on two counts of larceny over $250. Calls to McCauley's home last night were not returned.

Cook, 36, was raised in Arlington, with six siblings.

His father, former radio personality George Cook, gave him his first microphone, and after a few high school productions at Arlington High School, he went on to become a standup comic.

After a stint in New York, he went to Los Angeles and quickly became a household name among 20- and 30-year-olds.

He won acting roles in such movies as "Employee of the Month" and "Good Luck Chuck" and recently starred in "My Best Friend's Girl" with Kate Hudson.

^Co-sign.

Some of his stuff is alright. But sometimes, it's just non-sense.

Russel Peters FTW!

Hon. Mention: Colbert and Stewart as a team. That's educated comedy at its finest.
