Because the average player is lucky to hit 40% from two point jump shots.yeah 3 > 2 but if you don't have 3pt range & shoot the midrange jumper at a 50% clip why not stay where you're comfortable?
not every PF has to be a stretch 4
its been like that all draft.Lotta reaches in here looking like Stretch Armstrong.
I really think the whole mid range/3 argument varies from player to player. The demar derozen/ dion waiters midrange jumper is an awful shot versus the chris Paul pick and roll pull up. Same thing with Dirk vs josh smith.
In today's NBA, I don't think you can be a successful pick and roll player without being a great mid range shooter. If you're an off the ball guard/ wing, you're almost wasting your time shooting mid range jumpers.
An individual player can base their offense on the mid range (Dirk, Kobe, Aldridge, etc.), but an entire team building their offense around the mid range would be idiotic and a death sentence.the point is to get the best possible shot, sometimes its a 3 sometimes its a midrange shot sometimes its a layup
depends on what the defense gives you and who has the ball
to say mid range shots are bad because 3>2 is elementary thinking
This isn't rocket science, this is the general hierarchy of shots from best to worst
1. Dunks/layups
2. Free throws
3. Corner threes
4. Above the break threes
5. Midrange
well of course you cant have 5 players shooting midrange shots just like you cant ahve 5 people in the paint or no one stepping inside the 3pt arcAn individual player can base their offense on the mid range (Dirk, Kobe, Aldridge, etc.), but an entire team building their offense around the mid range would be idiotic and a death sentence.the point is to get the best possible shot, sometimes its a 3 sometimes its a midrange shot sometimes its a layup
