I think a decisive factor could be the effectiveness of both running attacks. Ridley, Bolden, Blount for NE. Williams, Stewart, Tolbert, Barner for CAR.

Thought about this too, but I've heard that Vegas typically always gives the home team the edge and a line of -3 for the home team is essentially a pick 'em, but that the line is made to represent the home team having a slight advantage. Quite honestly, I don't think Vegas knows which side to go with for this one.
