This is an interesting one and I could see why someone would think it's no longer figurative.

But throwing a game is still a figure of speech even in this situation.

I understand the nuance that the term 'literally' has adopted. Ironically, it no longer means literally all the time when people use it, and I'm ok with that. It's simply used to express great emphasis now. It's basically evolved to a slang term.

I bet y'all would've had a fit in the 80s when bad started to mean good.

"Mines" annoys me and, l know it's not the same but I'm seeing waaaay more people put the dollar sign after the number and it annoys me more than it should.
