Not into Jordans anymore?

I think whenever you're passionate about something and you see it go to crap you just lose interest in it. The sneaker community, as I got older, just became a sea of parody. Jordan's became symbolic of everything that is wrong with sneaker culture. You see a lot of kids that don't even play basketball that will hoard them just because, or to make a measley 100 on a resell. You never saw that in the 90s, and as someone who grew up wearing them and remembers the golden age of walking into a foot locker and grabbing your size the week after the drop, I can't bring myself to fight with little kids over raffle tickets and bots. Plus there is so much other dope stuff coming from Nike id rather rock something more original and unique as opposed to bring a Jordan stan. Id like to read your paper, you gonna post it anywhere?

When was that ever a prerequisite in owning a pair of shoes?  Im assuming you only wear drivers to drive your car, if you own boat shoes you must own a boat, running shoes means you wake up at 6am for a lap around the track?

i can't be mad at someone who can make 100 on a shoe flip.  i mean, where else can you make $100 like that (legally)??

and no, ppl didn't flip shoes in the 90s, they flipped baseball cards.  same game, different court

I stopped buying jordans because the prices were rising too much for my liking. A lot of them are also very loud and that doesn't go along with the way I dress now, especially the new colorways. Other brands have also stepped their game up at a cheaper price. For example, pure boosts are lighter, cheaper and wayyyy more comfortable than a pair of Js. My thoughts also extend to the Nike Basketball line.

There would have to be a drastic price drop for me to start being interested like I was before.

I haven't bought a pair of jordans since 05,red XXs.

I stopped buying them because i had other responsibilities and couldn't afford to drop hundreds on shoes anymore.

I began to lose interest when the market became over-saturated, the designs weren't as appealing and everyone started wearing them; I didn't want to be another part of the flock.

1. I haven't stopped buying Jordans, but I've definitely slowed down and have become more selective in what I buy. Nike comes out with so much heat from their other product lines like Lebrons, KDs, Flyknit, Nikelab, SBs, etc. whereas JB just retros the same damn 14 shoes every year. Not only are Nike's other product lines more innovative than JB's shoes imo, they're cheaper for the most part too.

2. My Jordan purchases will probably continue to decline as the years go by. There's only so many colorways JB can put out.

Going into buying jordans..

• Never had Js in middle school.. mom wouldn't buy em so I had some Forces and Bapes that I thought were legit at the time. Maybe a pair of team Js that went on sale.
• Around 2006-08: Only copped a couple pairs every now and then. Because in High school I didn't have much money and there weren't many major releases anyway. 
•  these shoes were my prized kicks. I was never into the buy shoes and let em sit on the shelf. I wore everything I had and tried to keep them nice as long as i could but never went outta my way to save em for years.
• The doernbecher 1 was my first extremely limited cop and I wore them a lot. Loved the attention. Loved the shoe. Loved the experience of camping to get them. I think they were like 137 after tax.

The shoe game. (2008-2012)

• jordan brand and nike start releasing more colorways and more frequent drops.
• prices are stable for the most part after a slight jump
• I become more aware of the limited nature of buying kicks and that there's a resell market
• I would put in work to get a couple pairs of shoes i wanted at campouts or showing up at the right time at boutiques and also getting nike store wristbands
• Would sell off the second pair and keep mine for half price or in some cases for free.
• this allowed me to build up a small collection because i could afford to get more releases.
• Really enjoyed things around this time. Free shoes. Interesting people met. Cool stories.

The fall (2012+)

• Nike begins to capitalize on the added value of their limited releases by raising prices (NOT QUALITY)
• The ASG Galaxy collection and yeezy 2s change the face of shoe values
• reselling becomes unchecked with people attempting to buy the entire run of these limited Js.
• Stores have problems with fairness
• The sellers create more and more hoops to jump through... bots, raffles, apps, rsvps etc..
• I never win rsvps. 
• refuse to pay resell
• start to get frustrated but still feel good when i can get something i want.
• I have enough shoes to wear already for quite awhile and start to pass on things to save the frustration

The end

• entering my early 20s
• getting to upper division courses
• getting a steady job
• no time to play the shoe game
• no desire to pay the ridiculous value of shoes after price hikes and resale
• too many releases. 
• More mature spending habits lead to greater utility in other hobbies like car performance, firearms, games, clothes, women etc.

1. TOO EXPENSIVE.. I JUST HIT 30 I HAVE RENT AND SCHOOL LOANS TO PAY BACK

I'll give OP the benefit of the doubt though... As many have expressed in previous posts.  The biggest issue is the rise in price and unsatisfactory quality of the shoes.  $200 is a lot of money for a pair of shoes (shocker for many of the NT members).  If I'm going to dish out that much money on a pair of shoes, I'd rather spend them on the most recent high-tech performance shoes that Nike puts out (Kobes, Air Max) since the price points are fairly comparable.

Also, too many bills to pay and other things I want to do (which requires $) that trumps my desire to purchase the next drop.  Although if money weren't an issue I'd be buying a lot more pairs

More of a statement.

First and foremost Air Jordans are basketball shoes.

I was just "cool" in the 80's to wear jordans to school and not just on the court.

I thought the same thing this past weekend with the $250 11lab4.

I think it is a lot of money for Jordans.

I thought I was the only one on this boat....I think I've totally outgrown this phase in my life...I knew once the Columbias dropped that everything I pretty much wanted is in the closet. However, I knew there were few more on my list that I had in the past but I've been really looking forward to be re-released (French 7s, Columbia 4s, White/Met 5s) but when they became a reality to actually cop...I just couldnt bring myself to giving Jordan 190+tax of my money anymore. These sneakers are still sitting in some places but I just can't find it in me to give Michael Jordan my money anymore. I still enjoy the way they look, but I don't have the drive for the chase or anything anymore. I think Jordan burned me out the last few years with the frustration and anxiety to relive childhood moments. Some of these are nostalgic but eventually the nostalgia last a few moments. Maybe I can get myself to go out and get these Hare 7s.
I only bout OGs or colors pre 2008...
The new color schemes aren't for me
And the hassle to get a pair just ruined a lot...going thru too many hoops in person and online to buy sneakers...nah, im good

For me it was all about catching the shoes that I wasn't able to  when I wasn a kid... nostalgia value.
