Nike Book 2

Wow it’s been at least 15 years since Nike made a decent Signatue Shoe. The Book 2 is a huge step back from the 1. Terrible shoe. Nike keeps messing up their basketball division. Please PROTRO THE zoom 2k5 huarache, zoom ultra flight, zoom bb, zoom flight 2k3.
What shoes have you tried?

I can't speak for hoopers, because maybe these things can be broken in...but on the casual side of things, the "shell" style of this sneaker is awful. I'm returning the "Rising" CW.

The upper has almost no give to it. And while they have a tiny bit more length in the toe, it's negated by the fact that the shell is just pressing down on your toes (reminiscent of something like a Lebron XI or certain yeezys). It feels like wearing an uncomfortable boot. The cushioning makes no difference if the upper won't move naturally with your foot.

just a couple other things:

- the insole is actually really nice...unfortunately it's of no use
- nice padding and texture in the heel/ankle
- the black "suede" feels very felt-like
- the lenticular swooshes look really cheap

I will look out for future colorways with different builds/materials (like the "Spiridon"), but so far these are really disappointing. I'll gladly get the ~$160 refunded and cop two pairs of Book 1s on sale somewhere.

Interesting, they both had two totally different takes. I like what the foot doctor guy said about how there’s going to be two camps, people who don’t like the break in period of the upper or how heavy they are and then others who love the cushion, tooling etc. So it’s all going to come down to personal preference.

I'm so disappointed. I love everything about this shoe ...........except the actual fit. I'm a true 12.5 but after a snafu on lauch date I ended up getting both a 12.5 and a 13. But I just can't with these. No shoe should have to break in this much to be wearable. Even with the larger size they are unbearable. I can't begin to comment on the cushion bc thr knuckle on my big toe was screaming so much. Will be returning both to my local Nike store tomorrow and pulling the trigger on AJ40 Chicago's. Looks like I'll be using the money I had set aside for the Phoenix colorway to shoot my shot on Kobe 1 "81 pts". Do better Nike. You literally had me at HELLO with thses.

Seems like general consensus is that upper is awful. Gotta see when the mesh pair comes in.

I think as long as the toe rand is "soft" like suede or leather (synthetic or not), then the mesh build could be a winner.

But the molded pair is awful

Finally I was able to do my first 30 minutes in them today. I already got them on the 30th, but did not have time to wear them.

I honestly like the lower to the ground feeling and the toe area was fine, it was actually softer than I thought. The clear sole was a bit slippery, but that was due to the court I believe, was not the cleanest.

The top laceholes, the round ones with the I guess plastic frame, were pinching a bit into my ankle, so I will monitor that. I tightened the laces and then it was not noticeable that much. I will give them a thorough wear the next two weeks, probably three times both weeks and 1.5 - 2 hours per session and then I will post my impressions in the thread.

Mines are broken in ands they feel plush on feet. You are eithere going to love or hate these.

Benjamin Nethongkome is an outstanding designer

And I know Nike still has Ross Klein and many other capable designers on the basketball side.

But I really think Book and Nike should think about having the Nike SB team design one of upcoming sigs.

Book like that his shoe looks kinda like skateboarding shoes, Nike SB's sigs kinda use some of the same design philosophy as Book wants.

Have the basketball side handle the cushioning and performance but let the SB side design the aesthetics.
