It wouldn't surprise me. Especially on those chromes, which are basically a summer-only shoe. So it's like the shoe version of planned obsolescence or quickly disposable product: Hey, let's release these summer IVs this year. Make them stay looking OK for a few months. Then when the summer is over people put them away, and then they pull them out again next summer only to find they have yellowed and look terrible. So then they buy THAT summer's release. Rinse and repeat.I believe they use this yellowing rubber on purpose because it keeps you feeling like you need a new fresh pair when they decide to retro them again. It would be bad for their business model to release a shoe and it stays pristine for 10-20 years
The problem with this theory is, it happens on all the IVs with white mesh, not just summer releases. Honestly it just seems to have to do with the composition of the mesh. Is it because Nike is cheap and doesn't care? Is it a conspiracy to get people to buy more shoes? Is it because the more environmentally friendly materials they have to use these days are for some reason susceptible to yellowing quickly? No idea, in truth. But whatever the cause, it sucks and it's ridiculous
