Yep, that pic said it all. I'm not 100% sure if its actual carbon fiber (the stuff ain't cheap), but for sure it's some sort of a weaved-fiber panel rather than a checkered, shiny piece of plastic like on the retros. The piece on the OG's was also textured. The retro's look smooth.

Quite frankly, not as great as one would expect (because shoe looks amazing visually). But really nothing to complain about either.
I switched to gel insoles. Did wonders.
