I was just thinking and about it and I’m going to lie. I kind of got used to the Saturday games thing…and I liked it. They will definitely be missed this week and next |l

Speaking of which, I double checked the schedule and ummm it looks like the discussion we had on Sunday about Friday night Wild Card Weekend games and No Sunday Wild Card Weekend games isn’t a thing? I guess it was an error or perhaps will be done next season?

That's a relief. I guess ESPN's schedule was incorrect and it still shows no Sunday games, but you're right...everywhere else shows Sat/Sun/MNF.

It's going to become increasingly more difficult to comp these past players to what we see now, but Aikman was put on the map due to that first SB run. His play in the postseason was phenomenal. He never reproduced that same kind of run in future postseason, but he was hailed for his efficiency and his postseason completion percentage for any era, let alone the one he played, was outrageously good those 3 SB runs.

His overall stats weren't great, but as alluded, those teams were stacked. During their run, they were DOMINATE...Probably not a lot of close 4th quarter games you'll find. There wasn't the need to pass like that...and then the postseason games is where he was best.

I’m all for tearing down the cowgirls but I hate this statistical microscope we put past players under across all sports. Basic “fantasy” stats with zero context tells less than half of the story especially for QBs.

Besides I never hear Aikman mentioned as one of the truly elite greats. Just a good QB for his time that won… a lot.

Exactly. I dislike the Cowboys as much as the next guy, but what are we really doing tearing Aikman down 30 years later? No one is proclaiming Aikman as their GOAT. He just did his job for that dynasty. This all seems like a pointless exercise.

Thurman Thomas had 65 rush TDs compared to Emmitt’s 153….I made the comparison because Kelly is the closest comparison you can get to Aikman, in regards to a legendary QB who had a running game. Buffalo had a little more balance than Dallas.

Jim had 35,500 pass yards compared to Troy’s 32,800. Jim averaged 221 per game, Troy 199.

That’s why Aikman has 165 TDs compared to Jim Kelly’s 237.

Jim Kelly had 175 INTs in 11 years, compared to 145 for Troy in 12.

No ONE can name the RBs of Marino, Young, Elway, Favre, etc.

People definitely would remember Thurman and Elway only had Terrell Davis for 4 years out of his 17 year career.

Other than that, none of the prolific passers of the 80s or 90s had QBs who shared equal workload with their RBs. Nobody can name who played RB for Warren Moon either.

Emmitt is the all-time leading rusher at 18,000+ yards, but people say Troy didn’t do anything. Cowboys had Emmitt, they were never going to run the spread offense

Look how inflated modern day #s are. You can’t touch the receivers or QBs anymore:lol:

Look at Drew Brees’ and Tom Brady stats from their first 5 years. They were putting up normal numbers. After their teams became pass heavy (when Brees left for NO and New England went to RB by committee) dudes started putting up 5,000 yard seasons and 40+ TDs :lol :lol :lol :lol

Again, let Troy had of been in the run and shoot or air raid like Warren Moon, Marino, etc. he would’ve had tons of stats.

^Elway had a big bugaboo for a while too. I remember leading up to '97, he was very long in the tooth (for those days) and they were talking about the impact on his legacy as he, along with Kelly, was 0-4 in Super Bowls, but his 4 previous appearances were in the 80s...Probably for the topic at hand, enter Terrell Davis and Elway wins back to back then retires. If he doesn't get those 2, he's Jim Kelly with Jeff George's arm.

Favre played w/ Dorsey Levens & Ahman Green.Young had Ricky Waters & Garrison Hearst

It's a reason Troy, Mike and Emmitt was called the triplets.

However you wanna cut it all 3 of them was great in the playoffs. You can't have a dynasty just off of a run game.

2 of them were great.. and that oline was one of the best ever

Troy benefited from the greatness

If you want a 3rd name to put on the pedestal, better start with Larry Allen

Favre played w/ Dorsey Levens & Ahman Green.Young had Ricky Waters & Garrison Hearst

Can’t forget Edgar Bennett… but Levens and Bennett had 4 total 1000 yard seasons COMBINED. Ahman was elite too for a good 5 years so I’ll give you that. But at his peak, GB was still pass first

You could say all three benefited from that Oline.

I could.. but I know Mike’s numbers would be a whole lot better in a more pass oriented offense

Them dudes on that oline, doing work no matter what

Emmitt was an all time work horse

Troy is the one that is the most replaceable, looking back on any part of those 3 championships

And it’s reprehensible it took so long for jimmy to get in

Actually I lie, jerruh is the most replaceable part

Still unreal to me the Bills went to FOUR STRAIGHT Superbowls and went 0-fer. Couldn’t imagine going through that as a fan. And all were loses to NFC East opponents. The only NFCE team to not get a shot at beating them yet? Philly who is currently the #1 NFC seed. Bills have the #1 AFC seed currently.

Hmm… What sportsbook has the best odds for a Bills v Eagles SB matchup?

Joe Flacco was good in the playoffs too

For 3 rings??? Now ya'll saying anything.

The discourse around Ravens QBs in here is NASTY  :smh:

But seriously…I know it’s Joe Flacco so people look at it funny and discredit it but his SB run was just me of the greatest of all-time. Taking out Luck > Peyton > Brady on the road then that vaunted at the time 49ers defense with 285 YPG, 11 TDs and ZERO picks.

I admit it was an out of body experience but he won the Ravens a Super Bowl (and me a loooot of money  ) so he’s slander proof in my book :pimp:

Now dudes get penalized for personnel? Larry Allen only won one SB as a Cowboy, Troy and Co. got him mid career in 1994. Troy had Larry on the backend of his career. He’s the GOAT guard though.

Erik Williams, Nate Newton, Mark Tuinei, Mark Stepnaski were either undrafted or late rounders

The Cowboys never even drafted a first round offensive lineman during Troy’s career. That’s what makes it so amazing. Just because they developed and drafted well, we need to take away the greatness of the overall sum of all parts?

Who’s penalizing dude?

Y’all had a great team and coach.. if anyone got penalized it’s mike, his stats should be a whole lot better but the focus of the offense

Draymond ain’t draymond alot of places

Still a good player, just talk crazy like putting dude over Barkley or even someone like Webber.. hell I’d say sheed too.. and don’t need to mention dirk

It’s disrespectful Rodman gets thrown around so easily with dude
