It's sad that people will remember his last 10 years with the Raiders than what he did for the game

Zim is building a defense in Minny. Vikes should pay, take a chance on B. Flo. Munnerlyn isn't the answer. I guarantee either James or Exum has a long-term impact for the VIkings. Exum has the versatility to play corner or safety, just often hit with the injury bug. James has smooth hips and good with change-of-direction. Also, Derex Cox is in rebound mode to prove his J-Ville form. Show us that one year in San Diego was a fluke.

Munnerlyn was a depth move in a need position. For someone filling a void, they could've done worse. I definitely agree about James/Exum. And with those two and Cox, my full trust is with Zimmer to get their true potential showing immediately or soon after.

I could be wrong but I thought the Vikings were going to a press heavy scheme.

If they are Flowers ain't built for that.

It can be bad news when a fanbase/team puts too much hope on one guy, but I can't say enough how much I think Zimmer is a phenomenal coach who could work with a lot of different guys and their skillsets and that certainly stands for a guy with the talent and proven ability of Flowers. Just one offseason ago he was up there with the best. Zimmer will know what to do.

Any sources out there that talk about how many undrafted free agents were on rosters in 2013?

The smartest will craft their defense around what their talent is. And Brandon Flowers is a talent. Go get him. Due to injuries, at the end of last year the Vikings had Chris Cook, Josh Robinson, and the Ed Monnix washing machine starting at corner.

They could potentially, possibly, go into 2014 with Xavier Rhodes, Captain Munnerlyn, and Brandon Flowers. And Harrison Smith is ready for a breakout year (decapitation-wise).

I agree. He's like the BPA of early round cuts and can help a lot of teams who know how to utilize him.

Harrison Smith is crucial. He can have an Earl Thomas-like impact for this defense. Not neccessarily the same talent as Earl, but he can be a top tier safety easily. Excited to see him get on the map.

651: I really want to add Minny to my list of breakout teams, along with Cleveland and Atlanta. Certain questions linger. How much success can Teddy have in his first season? How much does Jennings have left to mentor and help CP? The first question, Yankey and Tiny help solidify the line with Kalil and Loadholt. Defensively there's no reason to doubt Zim based on his tremendous work in Cincy. Griffen got paid, time to earn his keep. Wootton had a good 2012, could be motivated playing with a division rival. Barr helps improve the LB corps anchored by Greenway. We touched on the CB upgrades. Safety spot opposite Harrison Smith leaves much to be desired. Blair Walsh can be one of the best kickers in the league.

Green Bay wins the division clearly, but there's no stopping Minny from taking the next step into slot number two over Detroit and Chicago within a year or two.

^Completely agree. Lots of question marks yet, but still a vast improvement over the last few years. Then there's the whole tying-it-together thing, especially as you mention with the offensive line. I also hate the start of their schedule, so a breakout team may be a year in advance, but if it comes together the right way then I can see it for sure.

The NFC North just doesn't stand out to me defensively. The Packers, Lions and Bears all stand out right now above Minnesota on offense, but not from a talent standpoint...From a Q standpoint. If Teddy can show his efficiency on this level as he did at Lousville then Minnesota can score with anybody. Maybe Cassel starts in a groove and gets the out of the gates hot. It comes down to defense in the division though. The team best equipped to stop or even slow down those offense should have the advantage and I'm loving the direction so far from a roster standpoint, so the onus is on if Zimmer is the real deal or not.

8-8 is not out of the question. Really rooting for Zim, after losing his wife and holding the Cincy defense together for so long. DC's don't always translate to good HC's, but I hope he does.

Drafted MH, Peyton, Edge, Wayne, Clark, Freeney, Bathea, Glass Bob, Addaii.....I think he did pretty good, not Ted Thompson great, but not Jerry Jones terrible either.
