They should just execute him then.

You changed man :{

No one thinks Ray Rice's punishment was close to enough. That's without debate.

Comparing it to Josh Gordon makes no sense. Let browns fans tell it though :{

How does it not make sense?

No bias here bro, I actually don't even like Josh Gordon as a person because I've heard so many things about him that makes him seem weak-minded...

..but how many people do you know smoke trees?

Now, how many people do you know beat their wife?

Should those who smoke trees be punished in your opinion? What about those who beat their wives like rag-dolls? Who deserves a harsher penalty?

You have to compare the two because the bottom line is their being punished for detrimental behavior, nonetheless.

How many times Rice been in trouble?

How many times Gordon?

That's the comparison. 1 time offense, vs multiple time offense(s). Get that thru your head.

you're talking about our legal system versus the NFL league rules.

i have a corporate job. if i fail a drug test, i get fired. if i get arrested for hitting my wife, i will not be fired.

there is a difference between breaking your employer's rules and breaking the law. add in the fact that gordon is a repeat (three peat?) offender, and it's easy to see why Gordon gets more.

and you of all people who is arguing the league needs to care for it's players should realize a year away from the game is best for Gordon

I think a year away from football only increases his chances of getting in trouble a few more times. 8-10 games, scares him and makes decreases his chances of throwing it all away

it depends how it's done. mandatory rehab program. something like that.

he's shown that 8 weeks isn't going to teach him a lesson.

Regardless how you feel about marijuana, the only thing that really matters here is that it's classified as a controlled substance in the NFL. He's broken that rule MULTIPLE times and hasn't shown any indication of fixing the problem.

Ray Rice is a first time offender. That doesn't excuse what he did, or justify the length of his suspension, but simply to show that the length of their respective suspensions took their histories into account.

And Ray Rice is being suspended for "conduct detrimental to the league"

Josh Gordon is being suspended for violating the NFL Substance Abuse Policy for the 3rd or 4th time.

Apples to oranges

How do you know for sure 8 weeks isnt enough?

Being away isn't whats best for him, having a good support system is...and that can come with being away from the game or having a chance to be with teammates to talk sense into the kid.

Blackmon was away for a year and he's on the same path...the number of games is irrelevant if he wants to get help.

Don't make sense bro, they don't want you too.

i trying to say he needs more than 8 weeks to address his issues. its clearly a serious problem for him

And how in the hell do you know he needs 8 weeks to address the issue lol he can be clean in 4 weeks tops and be back on the field as a clean player again.

:lol

do you really believe that?

:lol

this problem goes back to his college days. it's not going to be a four week fix. the boy is all but ******ed. he needs professional help...not just the support of teammates and coaches.

I forgot, I'm arguing with lawyers here on NT.

So we can't have opinions because we're not layers? Where did you receive your J.D. from?

No, we can.

But I understand the disparity in the way the NFL will look at both Josh Gordon and Ray Rice's cases; however in the court of law - Josh Gordon's offense would be merely a fine, maximum.

Ray Rice's offense would land him in jail indefinitely and get slapped with a Felony on his record.

You can't say Josh Gordon deserves a full max, even if he broke the rule twice before - it doesn't warrant a banning anywhere else in the country....but the NFL implies their own institution of punishment obviously, and they may differ.

But Josh Gordon doesn't deserve a year long ban, when Ray Rice does something for more violent and gets away with 2 games.

You can't be okay with that.

2010 was arrested in car with a teammate and weed, the teammate was kicked off, not Gordon.

Gordon was arrested in 2011 for Weed and kicked off the team.

May 2013 speeding

June, 2 game suspension instead of a 4 game suspension (NFL already let him off light once)

August 2013 speeding

May 2014, stage 3 NFL Substance abuse policy, after testing positive again.

May 2014 stopped for speeding, was not charged for marijuana, but someone else in the car was. ( :lol )

July 2014, DUI

Browns fans, stop defending this ******* guy. You look foolish as hell. :lol :lol :lol :lol

Here's what I find wrong with your argument. In the court of law, yes Josh Gordon's offense is a fine. I don't know what the punishment is for the same crime 3-4 times though.

In the court of law, Ray Rice is probably going to take a class and have his charges dropped. So matter of factly saying he'd be doing jail time and be a felon is wrong.

You hit the second part on the head though. The NFL is its own organization. They have punishment for breaking their rules. The NFL to my knowledge doesn't have a punishment structure in place for domestic violence other than the conduct detrimental to the league suspension. The NFL however does have a punishment structure in place for closing the substance abuse policy, multiple times.

who gives a ****! these dudes dug their own grave... you dont see me *****ing and complaining about brazill getting suspended for the year, dude is an idiot and same goes for gordon, in all honesty the browns should cut his *** like the colts did to brazill...

AT is the gift that keeps on giving...

anyways,

Skins Day 1 Practice report:

Some thoughts and observations after the Washington ********' first workout in training camp:

Robert Griffin III did not look sharp Thursday morning, whether from his own play, the pass rush (the defense was getting to him) or the rainy weather (it rained much of the morning). Even Griffin admitted that “we weren’t as efficient as we wanted to be today, including myself.”

More often than not, Griffin was unable to throw the ball. Fault in those situations is tough to determine without knowing everything that’s going on; even the coaches have to go back and watch the film to see. But it was a constant problem for the offense.

When Griffin just worked on throwing the ball in individual work, he was more consistent (as he should be, of course). Better torque on his delivery. Bringing the ball from higher up, unlike last season. Better off his back foot.

He and DeSean Jackson nearly connected on two deep balls. The first was underthrown, with too much air under it. Jackson blew past the secondary, but the pass allowed corner Courtney Bridget to catch up and deflect the pass. On the second, Griffin led Jackson across the middle, giving him more of a chance to separate from another undrafted corner, Bryan Shepherd. But Jackson dropped the ball. I know it came against two undrafted players, but this is what Jackson does against a lot of corners. A key for Jackson, though, is to lead him on deep throws.

If I hit my girl, that doesn't have much to do with my job. If I fall a drug test at my job, which explicitly states I can't do drugs and will be punished for failing drug tests, that has plenty to do with my job.

How is that not clear as day :lol

I think you're still on a different page. From what ive gathered, no one thinks 2 games for Rice is enough. But they're separate cases and its really dumb to say one suspension is wrong by comparing the two. Are we just going to do this always and forever? Compare everyone's wrong doings with each other and base the suspension off of some super complex moral scale that includes every little circumstance? "O we've never had a player screw up like this before, add that to the super long list of circumstances for our super complex moral scale to get the perfect amount of games he should be suspended for." Doesnt make any sense. Gordons issues have nothing to do with Rice. The fact of the matter is Gordon has messed up so many times that people are losing count and naturally the suspensions are going to get longer and longer.

You can disagree on an individual basis which is what we're doing with Rice. But to say Gordons supsension is wrong only because of what Rice did is stupid.
