NEW YORK METS 2010 SEASON POST: Collins named New Manager

The moment Jerry took him out and I saw he only had one run of support I knew it wouldn't end well.

Moron came in and gave ol boy a batting practice pitch SMH.

And Bay comes in and looks lost all at bat, shameful.

As I get older I get softer, I feel bad for u mets fans. I don't mean that in a bad way or breaking on u when your down but if it were the yanks I'd be grouchy all day. Reminds me of the yanks in the early 90's.

Just because I feel that we should have gotten rid of Reyes when his value was up, doesn't mean that I'm completely in the wrong. I know that past failures were not completely on him, but people always say as he goes, so go the Mets. And I firmly believe that the Mets are not a World Series contending team with Reyes on the team.

Ollie pitched like a damn pitcher last night, jesus his stuff was filthy, and changing speeds (vs a righty lineup to boot).

But fact is Mets are hitting like .150 with RISP, and thats a situation where the pressure is on the pitcher.....they need to just relax (esp Bay). They still had their chances late and almost came back, Reyes normally beats that play to 1st.

Sucks Feliciano was sick he would've been out there in that bases loaded situation, but the HBP and then walk (after 2 strikes) was the killer.

Todays Lineup: (vs lefty)

REYES
CASTILLO
WRIGHT
BAY
FRENCHY
TATIS
BARAJAS
PAGAN
JOHAN

Bout time Bay has some sort of protection, lets get this.

Trading Reyes (imo) is not about getting rid of a problem. Reyes is not a problem. The problem is the teams dependency on its stars. There are low to mid market teams with a quarter of our payroll but twice the amount of heart and fight in them. Its a team of stars and bums. No middleground or leveling off of talent at all. The stars are expected to tear things up while the bums just watch and rarely contribute. I believe in trading guys on this team only to begin the process of leveling off the talent and lighting that fire...

You need the right mix of stars, vets and youngins to win in this league and the mets just dont have it. I believe Franc, Bay, Wright, Santana, and Pelfrey are set and Id love to see Tejada(SS), FMart(CF), Davis (1B) and Thole (C) eventually come up and take the places of Beltran, Reyes, Murphy/Jacobs etc.... If they move those guys we have now and let players we already have in the minors take their place imagine the spark that'd light under the teams **+ and what we could get in return for them.. The mets as they are right now just isnt cutting it.

Tejada is a worse hitter than Rey Ordonez. We cannot live as a team with his playing short everyday without a big time hitter at 2nd, and there aren't any available. You don't need to trade Reyes to create a spark. You people have to realize the importance Jose Reyes plays on this ball club in the clubhouse. Everybody loves him. You trade the most loved player on the team and people are going to be edgy, upset and angry. You don't win that way. All this team has to do is get another pitcher and we'd be good. End of story.

Tejada's still young and has a lot of growing to do...Im not saying trading Reyes was the be all end all answer to the problem. Its a scenario I'd be open to given that we get back that 2nd pitcher or big time hitter we need so badly..Although your right..itd probably cause more problems than it could ever solve...Its just so early to say wait till next season

I definitely don't agree with that but someone suggesting you trade Reyes to "create a spark"?  Laughable.

@++!, I'd rather see Tejada at 2nd if you're gonna look towards calling him up in the future.

I think the biggest thing will be if/when Beltran comes back (I saw that he still hasn't even starting running or any real activity?) what does he provide and does he become part of the plan or worth a trade?  He's making like $20m.

Of course when I'm out and don't get to see a second of the game, Ollie pitches well.  I'll just keep not watching his starts and see how it goes.

92mph after 110 pitches, good to see.

Nieve needs a break.

With Bay off to a slow start (and Reyes off for obvious reasons).....the lineup without Beltran and Gado is

and lacks balance (love his bat, hate his attitude).

edit: K-Rod should be out there.

You're completely wrong about Tejada.
He is going to be a very good hitter. He's not gonna be Chase Utley, but he's not completely power-less like Castillo. Plus his defense is already 10x better than Castillo's.

someone tell me why pagan is trying to leave 1st base w/ 2 outs. how in what position do you get caught in a 2 out situaation

Pagan doesn't have the best instincts in the world but at least Reyes leads off next inning.

This is Game 11 right? Nieve has pitched in 8 of em.

GMJ is the worst player in baseball yo.

This game is so frustrating to watch...No one on the Mets looked comfortable at bat. Bay is looking awful.

Yeah Bay looks lost but isn't he a notorious slow starter like Teix is? He will eventually find it along with Reyes.

We can't catch a damn break though, Reyes smoked that ball up the middle smh.

Nieve is gonna start sooner than later.
