NBA switching rims.....SMH

Is this really necessary? Might as well use the park backboards to.

I don't mind double rims. Made me a better shooter because of it. And this isn't your regular double rim. It does indeed seem as if they removed theloops which were dangerous to the fingers of players. This should help a little bit in that department.

That's not a double rim. And yea to the guy who asked, college rims have always been able to breakaway to the sides. I played on one when I played in that"And 1" exhibition game on the CBA court. It's weird when you dunk from the side and the rim does that

my local park only has double rims and I don't see a problem with them

must be why it is empty most of the time

I think it is for the better, I mean these are supposed to be the best basketball players in the world and if the double rim really does alter shots or make itharder, then it should weed out those who really can't shoot versus those who are pure shooters, somewhat bringing new dimension to the game. Again, thatis if the rims will alter the shots enough for those who are just average shooters.

Oh no, the double rim

edit: ok after reading the article, it doesn't seem that bad but still why the need for change?

If the players don't like it much, they can complain about it and they will get the old rim back, just like this thing a couple of years ago:

I remember opening game with that Ball.

yeah, my initial thought was that this isn't actually a double rim.. or not the cheap type you're used to seeing on crappy playgrounds.

I doubt it will really have an affect, but i will be curious to see how jumpshooting numbers change this year.

They're way too stiff. Even if your shot only catches a small piece of the rim, chances are it'll bounce out. If you're shooting jumpshots, youhave to swish them or else your chances aren't very good.

Funny how these have been used all pre-season yet they're have been no complaints until someone told you guys to be upset.

That's why the rims were so loud; I was watching the warriors play the lakers and every shot seemed to make a loud *#$ noise whenever it hit the rim. Therim seemed to be more forgiving too, really shaky from what I saw.

Yeah, since it definitely looks like the crappy 5" double rims everybody see at the park...
