I rewatched that game recently. Almost everyone on both sides were shooting like 30 percent or lower.

Nobody on the Lakers shot above 40% in that game except Fisher. The team shot 33% from the game and won, truly incredible.

That Kawhi shot wasn’t lucky at all. What occurred there was Kawhi was in the zone. When you’re in the zone you just throw the ball in the air and a higher power leads it towards the rim. You don’t even have to throw it in the direction of the basket most times and it’ll go it. It’s just how the Zone works.

16 for 39 = not in the Zone.

Lets get it 76ers!!!
Playoff jimmy B

Gonna be too easy....

If Ben was on a team where he had a complete green light to do literally whatever he wanted with no real expectations and didn’t have to defer to an Embiid, Jimmy or Tobias as scorers then he’d be averaging somewhere around a 23-25 point triple double right now. As well as playing the same elite defense he already plays.

It's a rap for the raptors. They don't have enough weapons like Philly. They lose in 6 but it might be 5

Kawhi’s shot wasn’t luck...he purposely shot it to make sure there’s more air/arc under the ball. At an angle where it would most likely hit the front rim and bounce around 2-3 times before falling...

Sixer fans are something else today

Just please tell me you’re trolling man. “Shot it at an angle that it would likely hit the front of the rim and bounce around 2-3 times before falling”......? What?

Nobody is shooting to purposely clank the ball up on the rim :lol he was not thinking to himself at that second that he was going to aim for the perfect spot to bounce the ball on the rim and fall in.

The game and series is over and they won. But it was one of the luckiest bounces ever. Period.

It's not a dumb stat when you know the context and era a player played in.

No its pretty dumb and here is why. Lets take an easy example. I have two players who both score 20 points. One does it on 10 of 20 shooting from the field with no free throws made or attempted. His true shooting percentage is 50%. I have another player who scores the exact same 20 points but does it on 5 of 10 shooting and goes 10 of 20 from free throws. Both score exactly 20 points and shoot exactly 50% from the field and one shoots 50% from free throw which is piss awful.

Player As true shooting percentage = 50%
Player Bs true shooting percentage = 54%

Both players would have technically taken the same amount of shots (player A takes 20, they all count as FGA, player B takes 20, but only 10 count as FGA due to the way FGAs are recorded) It heavily weighs scoring off frees throws because it includes them in one portion of the numerator when it isnt included in your overall field goal attempts, which is why harden truthers love it because he shoots free throws at a historically high rate. So even in games where harden shoots sub 40% from 2 and 3, he can still have a true shooting percentage well over 60 because of FTA and made.

It's not dumb when you watch the games and see the situation. Again, context. You shouldn't live and die by it but it's a piece of the puzzle. Agree to disagree.

But it doesnt tell you anything about efficiency lol. It makes zero sense that player Bs true shooting percentage is almost 5% higher simply because he had more points off free throws.

That and people arent using it in context of watching the game. People are just saying player X has a higher percentage than player Y without looking at the context of why said players percentage is higher and just saying X is higher than Y so he is more efficient. Its a flawed stat

Anyway, my rant on TS % is done now

Yea what about the 4th quarter though?

Upon further evaluation, with 6 for 8 shooting in the quarter and the game winner, yes. Kawhi achieved the Zone in the 4th quarter.

Problem is, I had some Mother’s Day stuff going on during the game, so I wasn’t watching it continuously. It’s hard to evaluate Zone status when you’re not seeing the whole game.

I wouldn’t put it past Kawhi to clank it off the rim and hope for a shooters bounce. Dude is methodical. He stated himself postgame that he purposely tried to put more air under it cuz his previous attempts were short

It’s simple physics bruh

I studied physics, those bounces wasnt a result of that lol he had to put air under since Embiid was in his face contesting. Use could use physics to explain how hard it is for his line drive shots to swish all the time tho

Toronto is butt.

I was wrong when I said the Raps will take the series after game 1.
Proud of Philly.

i bet the sixers EVERY GAME my guy and been doing it ALL season

if i wanna say sixers are getting disrespected who are you to say i cant ?

If Joel could stay healthy I’d put him in the top 5 above Kawhi as well...

This is where we see what Kawhi can do as the bonafide #1 on his team in the clutch... his teammates have been huge for him today... can he close and repay them?

Still Sixers in 6. Unless Nurse decides to stay going big then it’ll get interesting

Only a day between game 5-6. Let’s see if playing Gasol and Ibaka that many minutes pays off

yeah you might even say that if embiid didnt have his arms out stretched like that he wouldve shot it diff and it wouldve had a diff result lol
lots of factors
5 bounces was crazy tho def luck

but hey need a lot of luck to win

QU!K QU!K

Fam you pulling receipts of me saying i bet sixers every game what that got to do with the raptors lol ?

Thats my squad ive been betting them waaaay before this raps series started lol

You can do better
