I have a compaq computer with a belkin router... I have restarted the router and modem several times. I am running windows vista.

Can somebody help me out?

Thank you

your laptop loses the connection or your router keeps shutting off? if it's the first one, upgrade your wifi card to a stronger one. if it's the secondone, change the router, it might be faulty.

first, try upgrading your router's firmware.
second, make sure you're settings are good. I have a netgear router that kept periodically reconnecting on me because of the settings.
third, google it. if you done step 3 already, do it some more, and better.
if all else fails, throw that

out the window and get a better router.

Different routers do it different. The most universal way is to log into the router itself and have it check for an update. The address to your router isusually something like 192.1.1.0. You can find it in small print somewhere on the router itself in most cases.
