Moments That Made You Realize You’re Washed

Originally told my wife we will definitely get a hybrid of some sort when we get a new car so we can save $ on gas.

My decision has changed to variety of different cars since we started car shopping, but I'm leaning to sport sedan that would be a little more fun to drive and can still bring the youngins around. I've always wanted a manual transmission and a sports car of some sort, but yet practical.

My wife said I'm going through a mid life crisis since I'm leaning towards the sport sedan now and can't make up my mind... lol. :/
We’ll be in the market for a car soon and locked in on a RAV4 PHEV. Great reviews, practical, should last a long time. But I definitely plan to get my midlife crisis roadster once its paid off

I got a question, at what age do you think one should stop buying sneakers like Flightposite 1s and certain Jordans? I'm 34 and just can't get myself to buy certain sneakers although the nostalgia makes me want to. I had this conversation with my friends at work and they think at a certain age you look like a fool in certain sneakers.

Tinker Hatfield was in his 30s/40s when he designed most of his iconic shoes. He’s 72 and still WEARING and designing kicks.

So, whatever Tink does, so will I

Politics aside I think I'm grabbing a Tesla. I've looked into it for years and know the pros and cons and it's a good buy FOR ME. In Colorado right now I can get $17500 brand off a brand new one or 13500 off a used one up front out the door based off incentives in the state. 0 APR kinda got me itching too. I rented one for a college road trip with my daughter and it was 🔥

Note I've never had a car less than 10 years old. It's a 1/3 mid life crisis 1/3 reward for raising a daughter that got into her choice of a 4 year and 1/3 I've worked hard all my life I earned it

This has deterred me from an EV for the time being. I’ve been stranded in a blizzard before and it sucks…

PHEV makes the most sense for my use case. Should be able to do most drives in EV mode 40ish mile range. For road trips and cold weather can use hybrid/gas mode.

^ I say do it now while you have the itch. Assuming it’s not some financial stretch, have that fun. Many of my buds have transitioned into loving their minivans.
Fingers crossed I can pull this off (convince the other half)
I sat in the back of my SIL's Odyessy and thought to myself "damn this is comfy back here, this would make a great road trip car"
(growing up we were a road trip vacation family and the minivan was decently comfy as a kid, now theres TV, more leg room, etc. lol kids have it good these days)

RAV4 is on the top of the list too. The top trim is super niceeeeeeeeee and feels luxurious (test drove it the other week). However, after all the fees/taxes, etc. it would be the same price as another sports sedan I would want lol. Probably wouldn't get the highest trim anyway though.

You deserve to treat yourself!
$17.5K is a huge incentive. I'd consider an EV if there was that much rebate back.
I don't like how everything is controlled by the screen though. Wiper blades, for real?

Side note: I thought I had another "moment that made me washed" to add, but I forgot lol I guess that in itself qualifies.
edit: I remember now. I appreciate NT much more than I did way back. Dope how the sneaker community is so diverse and can find commonality across a variety of topics/interests/hobbies/etc.

I'm down to pretty much 1's, Air Force 1's, Dunks, LeBrons, I got some air max bowfins and air max 2016s I think and some running shoes.

On washedness, turned 40 today. i dont even have any injuries although admittedly a tweek where I feel my right achilles (doesnt hurt per say, I just feel it especially when i sprint like in my HIIT class). I was walking up the stairs to work today and instinctively I started making the grunt noises with every step. I was like wtf. It was involuntary.

Also metabolism is no longer metabolizing, got to about14% body fat so can kind of see abs in the morning although a layer of pudge prevails still but def no gut hanging in my shirts or something so happy about that, but had a cheat day yesterday whilst still hitting the gym for an upper body resistance workout and 20 minutes of stairmaster, only about 8k steps for the day, ~4000 calories total and 320g of protein, as I still track on cheat days but I gained 6lbs overnight. I know people say it's only water don't trip, as 6lbs of fat would be 21,000 calories, but still.

320g of protein how? That's like 11 chicken breasts

Time and place for everything. Society is going to society though. This is why people lose out on what makes them happy cause they felt as if they will be judge for what they have and don't have.

I got called “twin” a few weeks ago by some young hoodlum :::Old Otis voice::: looking for weed… I was highly ticked off by it :lol

I said it a while ago in the RAN thread, but grown men calling each other "Twin" (who aren't actually twins) will never sit right with me

ss Dr Mike Isratel would call it, diet fatigue. I wasnt even cheating with junk food that night really, I was just making hella protein shakes and putting like more peanut butter in them

Buddy pulled his hammy running routes as an assistant coach for his son’s 2nd grade flag football team. Out for two weeks.

At 34 you should be beyond caring about how other people see you and what shoes/clothes youre wearing. Define your style and what you like and stick to it regardless. People always going to have something to say.

People say this but if you look around you don’t NEED 90% of what you have and it’s not for you.

People will always care about what other people think, that’s just being human.

playing a full court game in your 40's will humble any man thinking they still got it. you'll be slow, your moves will be old ( that Tim Hardaway crossover ain't working no more } and you'll hurt for a week after. salute to the guys in shape who still do it but theres a majority of us that reach for icy hot and motrin after these mistakes  :ohwell:

yea if participating in full court run w/the YNs on a random one @ 40+….that is cooked behavior, not only because it is unwise but risky 😬😂 that noted if you never stop or ease back into it w/realistic type vibes it’s good work…at every point in my hoop ‘career’ played with countless 40+ dudes who gave out that work using the ‘old head’ trick bag 😂 just be smart & good with your limitations/ego

yeah theres usually that one young kid who u know back in your prime would be food on the court. you're hearing em talk **** till u can't take it anymore and that "when i was younger" phrase comes out and eventually you're bringing out the olaf's and air raid's to get put in the washer like the old guys u laughed at. enjoy this youth cause you'll be old more than any time in life

as long as you keep hooping & keep that ego in check, i.e. play within your current limitations (#imtoooldforthisish, word to lieutenant murtaugh) i think it is possible to keep playing well into the 50s & not be just a cone drill out there 😅 it’s definitely not the norm but i’ve seen too many examples of guys still holding their own to say it can’t happen and i still use that tim hardaway cross/utep 2 step from time to time!

I pulled a muscle cheering for my team last week. I was sitting down too smh

Had a MRI due to pain in my shoulder and after that the Doc hit me with the shoulder arthritis diagnosis. Guess I'll need to actually do some PT at some point to deal with this mess.

I thought I was hurting after running a game of Pick up that was full court last Christmas.
Nah buddy that was lightwork.
I started a YOGA class. I could chose the x3 per week or x2 and I was told to do 1-2 max, but I did the x3 time.
I had to skip day3 after showing up and not being able to begin on the day of the third class.
Oh man, I had pains in my damn underarm hair. I hurt in places I didn't know I had feeling.
Fine now but week 1 was stupid
