***MLB FEET AND EQUIPMENT 2017***NEW THREAD

gonna do a pair of custom cleats this year. anyone have a good rec for a mid/high top basketball shoe that makes a good cleat?

i tried the lebron soliders that Donaldson and everyone was doing but they dont fit my foot well at all and honestly didnt feel that comfortable. my favorite bball shoe comfort wise is the kobe6 if that helps for a reference but those are low tops :/

thanks for the suggestions

i really just need something light and very comfortable cause i broke my foot last october and ive been wanting to switch to mcs anyway. and bball shoes just seem way more comfortable/better on my lower extremities.

Aha, that thing is old, that's from circa 2007!

Also, it seems the original Thermalite U/S are still being done for the teams. I saw one player from the Yanks wear it but the chest logo was huge, consistent with their U/S lately. I manage to have one from the team but the logo was still tiny.
Btw how do you like these U/S? View media item 2366479

^, not bad, but I prefer my baseball shirts to have no print on em. And for the love of Mary, why Nike doesn't use stitched Swooshes is beyond me.

Those look slick, the Diamond Elite Pro looks new as well, where did you stumble across that one? Been looking for another one for a while now.
DEP are garbage gloves. The shado elite j and some other MIJ gloves were a lot better. Nike didn't even make those gloves. They had it outsourced. The best baseball gloves are made of kip or wagyu leather and MIJ. Some of these companies have special lines that are made by the same glove makers that make the gloves for NPB. The Rawlings and Wilson gloves that we get in the USA are an embarrassment. If you want to see some real top of the line gloves, go to swallow sports or look them up on rakuten. You will have to use google translate on chrome.

They used to use stitched swoosh on the neck line. You can still find them on ebay. There's some college game used ones up for sale too.

The reason I see was wear and tear on those stitched swooshes. When I had them and wore them a lot, the stitching started to unravel. Pretty soon washing the U/S was a bad choice. All the stitching came off.

I have several SHADOs as well. Two bf1487's, one bf1488, one bf1639, and one shado MVP Elite bf1592. Yes, made in Japan nikes were made by the Atoms company. They make their own gloves now.

I like the DEP. I definitely wouldn't call it garbage.

Nike stopped the partnership in 2015 and I wouldn't consider Atoms to be a top 5 glove maker in Japan. I really feel bad for Javier Baez having to use the made in China SSK and Kikuchi using the Probrain that is a far superior glove that will never get imported by that small company that has the rights to SSK gloves in America. Kikuchi is showing the world that he's better than Baez on defense as well and has done it over a longer period of time.

The glove that is taking Japan by storm is Donaiya. Every glove is made to the same standards of pro players and even Yamada doesn't get any special treatment by them. And every video I watched on YouTube with Japan glove maker rankings this year had Donaiya at the top spot. I'd still take a Kishimoto or Tsubota stamped Mizuno Pro over any other glove.

People really don't know what they are missing out on. The gloves, bags, and the glove oils are so much better. In Japan, there is equipment for every aspect of the game. We don't get specialized base running and fielding gloves instead of people in the USA having to use batting gloves for those other purposes. We get better bats and shoes and that's it.

I have friends who buy their kids Wilson and Rawlings gloves and think they are still made in America when they are made in Vietnam and the Phillipines.

You wouldn't happen to be silo luger on IG?

Yep, that's me on IG. If I had my choice of glove from Japan I'd grab a Junkei. I was looking but couldn't find the model I wanted. Then when I picked another, the store sold it.

As for Atoms I was considering the AKG17 or AKG7 but I figure it was just to close to the Shado plus I have.

Nike shut down the partnership in 2015 which is why some players are no longer wearing them. I have a few ssk probrain gloves and 1 Mizuno pro made in haga glove that is way better than any Nike gloves I owned. Asics also makes some great gloves

I sold off the 2 elite J's I had a few years ago. I didn't like the stuff they put on the inside of the glove. I had to use a fielding glove under them because it felt too odd for me.

I have 2 customs coming to me in a few months. First is an Asics wagyu OF glove based off of what Otani uses and the other is a custom Donaiya in steerhyde.

I'd consider this to be the top list of glove makers in Japan.

1) Mizuno Pro Haga Crafted or a Kishimoto or Tsubota made glove

2) Donaiya. Every glove is supposedly pro quality as even Yamada doesn't get anything different from them that normal people can't get.

3) SSK Probrain

4) Asics GoldStage

5) Zett ProStatus

I've helped some of my friends in Hawaii with buying gloves from Japan for their kids so I get to check them out first. Hatakayama mitts are also on the same level or even better than some All Star mitts I've used.

I know Nike ended the partnership. Thats why the Shado plus was the last mass models they released. They also ended access to customs for us common folk. I like the shado elite j's very much. I like the pliability they have yet still hold their shape. I also really like the palm liner, that you don't.

I've had a Kubota, Xanax, Wilson, Rawlings, and Nikes from Japan. They all have been great. I'm not necessarily going to rank them but I do agree with you that the stuff from Japan is far better than what people have everyday access to here.

Go check out the youtube videos on Junkei Gloves. Pricey but look outstanding.

I'm really excited for the Donaiya. I had to order custom through a friend in Japan as the store that has a custom builder on rakuten doesn't have it available for the usa market. I had to get the custom model because the only outfield pattern is the single post with two bars going horizontally. I guess that's a classic OF pattern in Japan as my first Mizuno glove I got in high school was a GOC-3 with the same pattern.

How did you like the Xanax? They always tout that their materials are top of the line and I know that they are super expensive too. The only one I've seen first hand was the Trust series and it was real nice. I'd really like to see what the Trust-X series is like.

I liked the Xanax a lot and wish I would have kept it. It was huge.

Ill try to post some pics in a bit.

Haha ok no worries man, Its a mystery!

I finally got to the bottom of it. I found out from a product insider there at Nike that supposedly these shirts were issued in 2016 and they a wear test sample. Several players from the Astros wore them, one of them being George himself. It's a sample where there are two fabrics on the sleeves. I guess one layer is compressing while the other is venting. He doesn't know if they will be in production but the stuff they have coming out lately has been ho-hum so it wouldn't hurt to market then sell them.

Btw you are right about the stitched Swoosh. It's so much better looking. View media item 2376327

the body of that U/S is the thermalite i believe right?

I had a couple of those around...2011/2012 i think.

interestingly my ideal U/S would be compression on the torso and looser in the sleeves

it gets really hot and humid in the summer and i dont like wearing a fitted or looser U/S cause it feels like it sticks to my body and pulls. i wear a s/s nike pro compression shirt with the vent on the back but usually want to wear a shirt w slightly longer sleeves under it but it can be a lot during the really humid days. oh well
