Man of Steel (Superman Movie Thread) - June 14, 2013 - NEW Trailer pg20

Just got back from the imax

was pretty ill. but damn you guys hyped this up like it was gonna be as good and as dramatic as the dark knight :{

Completing an arc in a trilogy does not mean they can't crank out other movies after it. Now it's like you're not understanding what I'm saying or what qualifies as a trilogy.

As for suggestions, so what? Let Doomsday kill Superman. We all know how he'll come back to life and not really be dead to begin with. Then maybe a better movie could be made justifying the title of Superman Returns. Also if a JL or WF movie came in between 2 & 3 it doesn't mean it'll have the same impact Avengers had on IM3 and thus altering the story of a trilogy.

As of things are going right now I see no reason why they wouldn't or couldn't do a Supes trilogy and continue afterwards. Obviously if the movie sucks and/or does horribly then the whole thing is a moot point but I thought that went without saying.

im watching returns right now, and I have to say, I kinda prefer Routh. Now of course the movie had flaws, but I liked his clark kent and supes alot more

Watching it right now as well and I saw Donners Superman and Routh is just too much like Reeves.

I never really have a problem with Cavills Clark because he wasn't really "Clark" yet, simply put he didn't need to be. He was still finding himself, he wasn't exactly hiding or trying to be someone else yet because the hero wasn't in public just yet. In the next film, whatever it may be, that Clark can be a little bit more charming, fun and clumsy but the one in MoS isn't really the Daily Planet Clark like Reeves was because he didn't need to be, he was just a wanderer that didn't stay in one place long enough to really need to pretend to be someone else. All he really needed to hide was his powers from the few people he is encountering with and it seems to imply that he doesn't seem to stay in one place that long.

This discussion could drag. I get what you are saying.

My reply was on why I would not think of a trilogy if the movie made so much money and as I said, because it doesn't have to be a trilogy. They can go so many ways and with Marvels success, trilogy could be the last and safest option. It is crazy not to capitalize on what Avengers did though so I really think WB will ride the Batman hype with the new Superman hype and make a Worlds Finest film or a JLA film. Then if they feel it is too risky, then maybe just a Superman sequel. I think that answers your initial question of why a trilogy doesn't come to my mind. WB still has a JLA penned for a 2015 release and until they cancel that date, it is still the best guess for their next film project.

Lol at bales "bat voice".
I don't know if they could replace Bale
right now. People are rooted this current batman trilogy and replacing Bruce Wayne so soon (Gordon-levitt or not) wouldn't feel right.
We need Bruce Wayne, not Gordon-Levitt's "Robin Blake".

Hated that robin blake garbage :{.

When I first watched TDKR I thought it was piff, but after a couple viewings on Dvd alot of that movie pisses me off.

Robin Blake :{

only 15 minutes of Batman :{

Everything I had ever hoped for. No questions in me, loved it beginning to end. (Superman fan). Friends tried to get me to compare it to other superhero movies. I simply responded with "I am a Superman fan so I can't do that. But you will definitely enjoy the movie."

Honestly did not leave me yearning for a sequel. This movie was awesome.

Tryin to slot in my own mind where I'd stand.....

The Dark Knight
Batman Begins
Iron Man
Man of Steel
The Dark Knight Rises
Avengers
Spiderman 2
X2
Superman II
X-Men First Class
Spiderman
Batman (1989)
X-Men
Superman (1978)
Daredevil
Amazing Spiderman
Thor
Captain America
Watchmen
Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2
Iron Man 3
Spiderman 3
Wolverine
X3

Man, I dunno. It gets tough there in the middle. And I'm not sure if I am firm on Iron Man over Man of Steel, need to re-watch MOS a couple times.

CP you put dark knight rises and MoS over avengers????

Yeah......I liked Avengers a lot, but TDKR was more powerful, imo.
And MOS was so much more serious, I'm leaning that way over Avengers also.

Nice post Battousai701. I love Graham Norton's & Jonathon Ross' shows... Crowe's drink sounds good. I'm going to have to try that...

I agree with your list for the most part except:

1. I would have IM a little lower. Not a knock on the movie I just think the story was super simplistic and the villain uninteresting. Maybe above X2.

2. The Donner films don't hold up well to me so they would be closer to the bottom.

3. I would move AS above Raimi's first installment but I understand why folks don't like that movie.

4. S3 is at the very bottom :lol

5. No Blade 1 or 2. I would have to have at least one of those in the top 10 maybe just above XMFC

Just my take

You have Watchmen pretty low... under Captain America AND DareDevil... damn!

I loved Watchmen.

Daredevil was just terrible to me, I can't bare watching it, I do try when it comes on at FX but I just can't do it. Especially the Kingpin ending, so cringe-worthy.

Daredevil gets a ton of hate, but I liked it a lot. Bullseye, Elektra, and Ben were all solid imo. Kingpin did go out poorly, but that didn't ruin it for me. I was hopin a sequel would clean things up a bit, sort of X-Men to X2 type feel.

DAREDEVIL IS THE ABSOLUTE WORSE. EVEN WORSE THAN CATWOMAN, ELEKTRA AND THE OLD SPAWN MOVIE. EVEN WORSE THAN THE BATMAN THAT HAD JIM CARREY AND ARNOLD AS VILLIANS.

The movie felt very..... Thor-ish to me. Especially when
Superman was fighting the two guys in Smallville. Reminiscent of the scene was Thor and his team was fighting the bad guys in that tiny town, as well.
I liked it, though. I just felt like it dragged on waayyy too much.

Daredevil needs to be redone the right way. One that involves Elektra, the Hand, Stick, the Chaste, & Kingpin. Could be such a good movie...

You put daredevil above thor though...and where's fantastic 4 in your ranking?
