Man of Steel (Superman Movie Thread) - June 14, 2013 - NEW Trailer pg20

Anyone peep the Lex Luthor Easter egg? Lol

Movie wasn't bad , nowhere near Batman but then again they are two different beast. It's gonna be interesting what they do with Justice league

I didn't really care for it, I was really looking forward to this to. I felt the pacing was pretty bad, I was bored through most of the movie.

Star Trek >>>

Only reason I'm comparing is because it was the other big summer movie I've seen so far.

But really, I was WAY more entertained during Star Trek.

I felt Star Trek was extra regular. Felt like i knew exactly what was gonna happen....like it took ZERO risks

Felt MOS Took more risks with krypton, action, supes killing, tone etc......

Im tired of seeeing the exact same **** in movies over and over, i felt that. ST2. Had no bite, no balls to go where no man had gone before

If you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains – however improbable – must be the truth.

all son wanted to do was to re-build da planet that his idiot rulers ruined.

Yeah but at what cost though? That World Engine was no joke and Superman was raised here. He couldn't let that go down. Zod's heart was in the right place but his methods were foul.

This movie was quite disappointing.
I enjoyed Krypton and the fact that they showed a lot more of that side but there was so much exposition throughout. Also the way Lois and Clark meet was too abrupt and a bit random in my opinion. I even thought some of the acting was a bit stale sometimes felt like they were just reading the lines :lol also they really couldn't have come up with a different way for his father dying? I mean is Clark really just going to let his father go into a tornado to save a dog knowing his abilities? :{ granted some of these points might be true to the comic (haven't read any superman comics) I guess I just wish they had taken a different approach for that. Action scenes were pretty cool, I will say it got a little ridiculous with the destruction of Metropolis though I thought it was little too much the city was pretty much ruins :lol I thought the lady who played Faora did an excellent job as well as Shannon as Zod, Cavill did a pretty good as Clark also. Sound track was on point, of course with Zimmer. Overall it was okay though. I'm really picky with movies:lol

The fighting scenes make me hopeful for future superhero movies where the characters have powers similar to Zod and Superman, in capable hands some epic stuff can come to fruition

Just got back from seeing MoS..I gotta say that this is easily in the top 3 of the modern comic book movies..Better than Thor, Captain America, Iron Man 2/3, Batman Begins/TDKR, and Amazing Spiderman..I thought they did an excellent job giving us back story about Krypton/Jor-El/Zod..The flashbacks to his childhood and his relationship with his dad were great..Shannon played a perfect villian and Cavill played a great superhero..Plus the supporting cast all did a fantastic job..Crowe, Costner, Lane, and Meloni did a better job at supporting the main characters than any other cast of any other super hero movie (TDK included)..

I give this and easy 8.5/10..Probably would have been higher if I'd have seen it in a regular theater instead of the drive in cause it's harder to see details when your outside..Best movie of the summer so far..

Shannon as Zod was awesome. Dude really brought that intensity (word to that sorority letter video :lol)

I really liked that one female commander to Zod. She and that other tall dude put in that work on Superman :hat

Mondo Poster is on sale at http://www.mondotees.com/Man_of_Steel_-_Ansin_p_1000.html until Sunday, after that they will not be on sale again. Info on how their poster sale works in the spoiler.

MAN OF STEEL TIMED EDITION FAQ
In preparation for the MAN OF STEEL Timed Edition sale, there have been a lot of questions. Our hope is to consolidate the answers to most of them on this page. If you need further clarification on anything, please send us a message using the contact section on our website.

Q: How does a Timed Edition sale work?

A: A poster is put on sale for a pre-determined amount of time. In this case 72 hours. From 12:00AM on Friday until 11:59PM on Sunday, the poster is considered an open edition. Meaning, that however many sell in that time period dictates the edition size. If we only sell 50 copies, the edition will be hand numbered out of 50. If we sell 5,000, the edition will be hand numbered out of 5,000, and so on. We will only know for sure on Monday morning how many we are printing.

Q: When will these posters ship? Why will it take so long?

A: We will not BEGIN shipping Man Of Steel by Martin Ansin until July 29th. The reason for this is that our printing queue is full leading up to San Diego Comic-Con mid-July. We only feel comfortable printing this poster with D&L Screenprinting in Seattle, WA and they will not be able to accommodate our demanding print schedule until they are completed with the posters that are ahead in the queue. We appreciate your patience with this.

Q: Why can I not combine shipping with my Timed Edition print? I want to buy multiple. Would it be easier for us both if you combined them.

A: We will not honor ANY combined shipping requests simply because it takes too long. There is a lot of room for error in shipping in high volume. The amount of variables you can subtract from the equation will lead to faster shipping times, and less room for special requests being overlooked. I know it sounds like it would be faster if we threw more posters into a single tube, but that is not true. The amount of time it takes to combine orders, and refund postage adds hours to our daily routine. It would ultimately add days to shipping MAN OF STEEL.

Q: Do you ship internationally? How much is postage for an international shipment?

A: We do ship internationally! Postage for the timed edition is $15 for Domestic shipping, $25 for Canada, and $32 for everyone else.

Q: How much will the Metal variant cost to ship?

A: Postage for the METAL variant is $35 domestic, $65 for Canada, and $75 for everyone else. Metal posters are shipped Flat. We cannot combine shipping on the Metal print with anything else.

Q: I live in Austin, TX. Will you offer GALLERY PICK UP for the Timed Edition?

A: Yes! We only ask that since there is no rush to the check out on this particular drop, please enter your PICK UP request in the Order Comments Section rather than e-mailing us afterwards if you can. If you forget however, or read this FAQ too late, don’t worry. Just let us know and we will update your order at anytime. However, we will not accept requests to have prints picked up by third parties. To clarify, no, your buddy cannot pick up your poster for you.

Q: In the weeks it took for you to ship my poster I have moved / gone on holiday / etc. Can I change my shipping address?

A: Of course! Please send your updated address to us using the contact section of our website and we will gladly adjust. But only if it still shipping to you (the purchaser). Meaning, we will not update the address to ship the poster to a third party.

Q: I’ve made a HUGE mistake. Can I cancel my order?

A: Unfortunately, no. All poster sales are final.

Just got home from seeing it. Spoilers to follow, I repeat, spoilers to follow.

If you don't want spoilers, stop reading right here and now........................

LOVED IT.

They have truly elevated Superman's game now. This is the best picture by far.

Now, I get why the first 2 OG's would be so loved and cherished, they established the mold. They "started it all" so to speak. I understand that, but watch them side by side, it would be clear as day which is the more prevalent.
I watched the 78 version a couple months back. When he reveals himself to save Lois and catch the helicopter, it gives me tingles. It's a great scene, but the score is what does it moreso than the acting. The music playing is simply brilliant. The scenes with the people below going "look at that" or "whaaaaaa" Was cool. Showed the world that, something was up. And Lois asks him, who are you? "a friend"

A friend.......that's what we got in 1978.

This movie goes MUCH deeper than that.

If Lois were to ask him, who are you, he would have replied, "I'm trying to find out, but let me show you what I've learned so far"

Johnathan Kent was working on him even as a young boy, teaching him, molding him. Preparing him for what his life would be like someday. Isn't that what all parents do for their children? How does that not resonate? And when he puts his hand up to tell Clark not to come help him............man, all in my feels. I was there, I was in that moment. That was power.
His own father, doing whatever he could to give his child life, no matter what planet it would be on. What parent wouldn't make that sacrifice for their child?
Clark struggles, and doesn't understand the powers he gains as a small boy, struggles with when to help, and when not to. He has genuine good in him, knows that he can help and actually wants to rather than just sitting around abusing his power. He was tought better than that.

This is all very key in what we are given in this movie. Yes, they don't go into much detail about Perry White, or "Jenny" Olsen, but the fact is, we all know who they are. Yes, this is an origin flick, but some details just have to be understood, so to speak.
Rather than focus on Perry White, or the General, or Supes hot *** mom, shift the focus onto what makes Sjuperman who he is. Why he is the way he, what he struggles with, what he learns.

In his search for who he is, he encounters humanity. Guys that flex on him and have no idea what he could do to them. He sees the good, the bad, the way the tough guy "saves" him from the falling cage. Or the trucker tries to fight him, but the waitress tells him to let it go, it's not worth it.
The look at the school bus that brings him back to a memory, the lessons he learned from his father (Costner) the storytelling was very very solid. I liked it a lot. All pieces to the puzzle that is Superman/Clark Kent.

Costner/Crowe were both outstanding. Costner maybe more so, his dialogue was simply terrific. That is the Goyer part of the film, the action was clearly a Snyder production. LOVED Costner's dialogue.

I disagree with those complaining on Zod, he was tremendous. Did you guys see the POWER in his acting? His facial twitches, his simmering rage, the way his mouth would shake, the way his jaw would jut, that dude did his lines with ANGER and ferocity that not a lot of others could have pulled off, especially in front of a green screen most likely. Shannonw as outstanding, imo.
The confliction he showed each time he "killed" Jor El. You could see it bothered him to do that. He was created to save his people, yet, he didn't like killing Jor El to do so. He did it, it was his calling in life, but he showed there was something else there.

The chick was perfect. Sooooooo much better than the og chick. She was a freaking bad ***.

Amy Adams was solid, and looked good as hell to me. I'm not complainin at all. I thought her chemistry with Cavil was top notch as well.

Cavill was solid as hell doin his Wolverine impersonation. :lol Dude was YOKED. He handled that role splendidly. The quiet loner type early, the unsure learning superhero mid, and the desperate fight to save Earth late. He was everything I could ask for. No more "a friend" crap, he came here and kept quiet and didn't just reveal himself to save his girl, and then a cat, and then catch a couple jewelry theives, he revealed himself to save the planet, without complaint, without worry for himself, and without some truly epic score to make people fall in love with him like 1978.
The nostalgia needs to go, this was the better way to tell the origin story of Superman, not that corny stuff in the late 70's.

My biggest complain, the way they did Zod and crew on Krypton. Ok, they were bad boys, need to be punished, but did they really need to send them to the stars encased in glass dildos? :| :lol I seen that **** and was like wtf? :lol Wife and I both started giggling like you do when you're in church and need to be quiet. We didn't even say a word, we both knew why were were giggling. That's a rough way to be punished man, eternity in an erect piece of glass with duel engines at the bottom of the shaft. :{ :lol

There were some things that could have been cleaned up. They could have spared 10 minutes of action to enhance a few things, sure, but overall it was full bore what you would want a Supes movie to be. The power Cavill let out when he snapped Zod's neck, that's real **** right there. He knew he was saving innocent lives, even tho he was forced to take a life in return. A decsion he did not take lightly, even being the "right" thing to do.

As he said, "I'm here to help, but it has to be on my terms" He's not going to just go assasinate who the government tells him to, he's going to do the morally right thing to do.

New York tho. Rough 12 months. First the Avengers blows that town to ****, now this crap. Couple trillion in damage, several thousands likely dead in all that carnage, Kansas property values all decreasing ten fold. :lol

Solid 8.5/10 for me. Can not wait for it to hit Blu Ray so I can watch this multiple times.

^ ^ ^

It's not NY, it is Metropolis. :lol

Also about Zod and crews punishment, they killed one of the "elites' and tried to do rebel by over throwing their government. Not to mention that those "elites' were obviously arrogant by not listening to JorEl and Zod about Kryptons destruction so it seemed fitting to "over-react" with the punishment, I honestly do not think it is an over-reaction, seems fitting really for what Zod tried to do. He just happened to fail.

The punishment was fine, encasing him in frozen dildo was a bit much, imo. :lol
