Man of Steel (Superman Movie Thread) - June 14, 2013 - NEW Trailer pg20

I said the same thing. Either they're gonna try and be sly and just not have the dude under the cowl show his face, or it's ****** up casting JGL.

Batman has to be Bruce Wayne. And you can't have the guy who played Robin 5 minutes ago, suddenly be Bruce in the JL movie. Unless this is Batman Beyond or something, and they go all in on John Blake being Batman...which would get weird when they make another Batman...and dumb because now you have to deal with connecting Nolan's stuff to this universe or whatever.

I mean that'd be like if they made X-men 4 and casted Hugh Jackman as Professor X.

What I was saying was that it's fine having JGL be the Batman in this because none of these characters would know who Bruce Wayne is so it's not like they've already interacted with Batman and now their getting someone different. Blake was never really Robin, Nolan just threw that in there I feel like as a little extra. I feel like Batman doesn't need to be Bruce Wayne because of how much an emphasis they put on the fact it doesn't matter who Batman is, its the purpose he serves as a hero, so JGL can pick up from where Bruce left off and partake in the JL, which is why Bruce gave him the coordinates to the BatCave

I don't think they'd be linking the JL movie within Nolan's Bat-universe though so having JGL's character from TDKR be Bats is a wash. It would make much more sense to tie it up with the new Supes movie instead and start fresh.

No matter what anyone says or thinks, a JLA movie w/o Batman removing his cowl will simply not work even if Bruce Wayne is only shown for a split second, he still has to be w/o cowl at some point in the film. I just can't see that not happening.

I get that.

Then JGL better not be the new Batman.

Is Jimmy Olsen a Woman in Man of Steel?

The changes that have been applied to Superman for the upcoming film Man of Steel have been pretty divisive to say the least. His costume changes and the morbid attitude of Pa Kent have had some fans up in arms, and if you found yourself in that camp you may not like this latest rumor.

As DigitalSpy points out, one member of the cast listed on IMDb is an actress named Rebecca Buller, who is listed as playing the role of Jenny Olsen, which doesn't exactly confirm the gender swap of the character, but then when you see this screencap from the trailer of Buller running with Laurence Fishburne as Perry White (the Editor of the Daily Planet), it starts to make sense.

This hasn't been confirmed by the studio yet, so treat this strictly as a rumor, but it's one of the most plausible rumors we've heard in some time.

Just read the news as well. If she is indeed a female version of Jimmy, as long as the change is justifiable then I'm good. This might be an issue for Superman purists though.

Well, I'm not a fan of it, but I guess I rather look at her than a Jimmy. :lol

They also made Perry White black now with Fishburne playing him but there doesn't seem to be much uproar on that end. It'll be interesting though since Supes/Clark has a bromance going on with Jimmy so will having a female version create more of a Chloe/Clark relationship we saw on Smallville? Is it to create a somewhat of a love triangle between Clark/Supes, Jenny & Lois? Or since this is an origins story, maybe the chick (jenny Olsen) is the current photographer, Jimmy's cousin and she dies at the end of the film and Jimmy takes he job?

We shal see!

Might be the love triangle thing, just to add some intrigue with his relationship with Lois. Although they could've just added Lana for that.

The dying thing is kinda interesintg though. Kinda like the Gwen Stacy parallel.

*shrug*

Can't be worse than when they gave Superman a kid last movie.

Worked for Battlestar Galactica.

After Sucker Punch, just don't let Snyder write anything for her.

I'm cool with a Jenny Olsen. Let's be real. Supes has gotten stale. Needs something new....anything

Justice League’s Future May Depend on Man of Steel’s Success

From: http://spinoff.comicbookresources.c...re-may-depend-on-the-success-of-man-of-steel/

While many Superman fans are pinning their hopes on Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, it appears so too is Warner Bros.’ long-brewing Justice League movie.

Following Monday’s announcement that Kevin Tsujihara will succeed Barry Meyer as CEO of Warner Bros. Entertainment, Variety speculates on the future of Warner Bros. Pictures President Jeff Robinov, who was passed over for the position. Under his watchful eye, the studio has developed such blockbusters as The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, and franchises like The Hobbit, Sherlock Holmes and The Hangover. However, one of his biggest challenges may lie just ahead.

According to the website, the fate of Justice League is tied to the box-office performance of the Superman franchise reboot. “Other than Nolan’s Batpics, Warners has not been able to effectively exploit the DC library,” Variety writes. “Its 2011 Green Lantern underperformed, and a Justice League film wouldn’t likely be in theaters before 2015, as Warner’s top brass has indicated that they are awaiting the results of Man of Steel, which opens June 14, before moving further ahead.”

Green Lantern is undoubtedly a major reason for the studio’s hesitancy, as the film disappointed both commercially and critically, bringing to a quick end what was envisioned as a long-term multimedia franchise — is it any surprise there will be just one season of Green Lantern: The Animated Series? — and likely slowing the pace of other DC properties like The Flash. What’s more, the timing of Green Lantern was particularly unfortunate: Although the film had been in development since at least 2007, it became the first Warner Bros. superhero release following the 2009 restructuring that created DC Entertainment, “a new company founded to fully realize the power and value of the DC Comics brand and characters across all media and platforms.”

While the “new” DC Entertainment had little to do with Green Lantern — the script, director and lead actors were in place before the corporate shakeup — the film was hung around the company’s neck: This is how you fully realize the power and value of the DC Comics brand?

Lingering unspoken, like the word “Voldemort,” is Bryan Singer’s much-maligned Superman Returns, which casts a long shadow across Man of Steel, and indeed, any of the studio’s superhero plans that don’t involve Batman in a starring role. A commercial disappointment, although certainly not a flop, the 2006 film landed with a thud among franchise fans, many of whom were quick to draw comparisons between Superman Returns and early Man of Steel trailers. And if there’s anything Warner Bros. hopes to avoid, it’s a replay of Superman Returns.

“Superman didn’t quite work as a film in the way that we wanted it to,” Robinov said in 2008. “It didn’t position the character the way he needed to be positioned. [...] Had Superman worked in 2006, we would have had a movie for Christmas of this year or 2009.”

And now, if Man of Steel doesn’t work in 2013, we won’t be seeing Justice League in 2015.

I find it that Erica Durance just does it best for me. Look and spunky-ness is just right.
Will have to see how Adams does as Lois.

Adams seems fine as Lois. Like what you said, got to see more of her as Lois as well though.

I have faith in Adams, she's the best actress of the lot, she'll be excellent
