Interesting theory. However, Lapidus looked at whatever was in the box as if he had some recollection about who or what was in the box. If it isJacob then how would Lapidus recognize him at all??? The way Lapidus said "terrific" seemed to imply that Lapidus understood the implications of thedrama that whatever/whoever was in that box would cause on the island.

you know... i've come to the conclusion that there is absolutely nothing special about John Locke...
the only reason he is thought of as special is because John Locke told Richard that he was special... but he never does anything properly...
im almost certain that John Locke is going to completely tear apart the dynamicof the island... & that season 6 is going to be spent fixing the huge messthat his lame !@% is creating
