I agree entirely with that open letter too.Originally Posted by franchise3
That was a long read, but definitely worth it. That open letter.
That dude's ending and plotline woulda been 10x better than what we ended up with.

i don't think it's a matter of being gullible. the writers said it over and over again in interviews that it would all connect.Originally Posted by Master Zik
The ending of that letter did make me laugh though. All yall who didn't like it basically got fooled by a 6 year long con. Making yall naive and gullible like Locke trying to form a bond with his father or like anybody James conned.

Thank God you didn't write that cause I was going to tell you to go get a hug man. I mean I understand a show let you down but at the end of the day it's a show. I learned that with The Soprano's. I was pissed at the end but I let it go. This ending shouldn't be affecting people like this.

The show is still in my top ten of all time, i'm just very dissapointed with them.it's affected people so much because the writers had a direct relationship with their fans that hasn't been done before. People feel like they were directly lied to.
Nobody was asking Chase if the sopranos would all link up at the end... because it didn't matter for that show. Tony was either going to die or go to jail in the end. Lost on the other hand is the most complex show ever written. and these writers had podcasts every week. And kept saying "trust us it's all connected and we will handle it properly" it feels like they wasted so much time in season 6 with the alt timeline, just so they could say "we ran out of time guys!"
my friend has been freaking out over flash forward. he swears by it. i heard fringe is really good but i'm not gonna watch that until it's all said and done.
The writers/creators have said they wouldn't do a lot of things and it's been proven to be outright lies. In the past they've said they would do certain things and have lied. The proposal for the show to ABC was a huge lie.Originally Posted by DubA169

how is it gullible to expect them to deliver on a promise? there isn't much precedence for writers to lie about a show for years and years. you didn't believe that they would connect their own dots?
I hope another network picks up FFOriginally Posted by Simply Certified

I see a lot of yall complaining about them promoting the mysteries with viral sites, podcasts, and what not(for monetary purposes obviously) like you were all obligated to have the show attached to your hip. I didn't need all that extra %+#+ for me to love the show. The most I did was sign up on lostpedia, argue, and look for spoilers.
It's funny how life imitates art in that it was more of a combo of Ben and James that got yall. Manipulated yall to the point where you were too far gone to come back and told the right lies and enough of them to string yall along to the end. The show just got greater in my eyes.
I have my problems with the show like yall and if I wrote it's definitely be better to me but I could say that about any type of entertainment I like. Thing is when I take the finish product from the ppl that made it I'll give my opinions and take it as is, not go on an on about how terrible the end was cuz it could've been worse like really bad. Going off prior seasons, knowing how the show was done the ending was pretty good.
Hopefully yall learned a lesson from all of that.
At what point in what I posted did I state that you Dub or the article said you didnt like LOST?? I was simply commenting on the writer of the article along with others in this thread saying that they feel as though they were "cheated" or "deceived" by the writers. I never said anything about anyone not liking the entire series. So I think you should read again before you get all defensive and start pointing fingers. I adressed the majority of American media consuming culture to be specific FYI...my commentary did not solely apply to LOST but obviously you missed that.Originally Posted by MrONegative

I think in this thread people like you constantly confuse criticism and not liking certain aspects of what the show turned out to be as saying the show isn't good. We're the same people who would still put Lost in our top 5 shows of all time. You got some serious conflation issues.Originally Posted by FlatbushFiyah23

the writers can go on whatever spin job they want. Many people feel deceived by them. have fun trying to keep a faithful audience with your next show. The trust is gone
I think in America media consuming culture people constantly confuse not getting what they want in a story as being the same as not being good. I can think of a ton of novels, movies or shows where I wanted something to end a certain way or a certain character to live or something in particular to be explained however those things not happening the way I wanted it to does not cloud my view of what I actually see and the storytelling in front of me. I really believe that some people in this thread along with other LOST fans are not able to appreciate the storytelling in the series for what it is because they did not get what they wanted. Quite frankly, its sad to me that they just didn't get and I feel sorry that after six seasons they didn't get it or feel cheated (even though nothing was owed to them at all).
You can't have it both ways. You can't say that we feel cheated and deceived by Lost, but somehow still like and even love most of the show. That's when I ask, well what the +%$! is your point then? We're criticizing the way a show we liked ended. Not getting it, would be not liking most of the show. It's telling people who like the show they're stupid, it'd be not watching every episode, not buying the DVDs, asking why isn't this canceled yet every year and calling everyone who still watches it suckers.Originally Posted by FlatbushFiyah23
