Nah they could take them as prisoners. Nowhere in the ROE is that illegal.I didn't get that either. The movie was intense though.Yeah, like other people said, I don't understand why they didn't just take them as hostages for a couple hours on the hike back than let them go?
Does Marcus address that in the book or in any interviews?
Do the ROE not allow them to take those dudes as prisoners? Of course they would've had a search crew on their tales eventually after it was noticed that those dudes were gone for a long time, but at the very least the SEALS would've had a headstart and the opportunity to set up strategically and plan some traps.
MAYBE they doubted their ability to control 4 prisoners as a 5 man team, but still, then ended up losing 3 guys and still not accomplishing the mission. And that mission became an extreme long shot as soon as they let them dudes go
