This confirms what we already knew: SAS is full of ****.

But this is typical free agent talk tho so we'll see.
DeMar DeRozan will be a free agent for the first time in his career and he was asked about whether he thinks he might find a situation better than the Toronto Raptors.

"I don't think so," said DeRozan. "My mindset has always been Toronto... I don't want to switch it up now."

DeRozan has emerged as an All-Star with the Raptors and he figures to command a max contract

DeMar DeRozan on future: 'My mindset has always been Toronto'

TORONTO -- DeMar DeRozan expressed a desire to stay with the Toronto Raptors one day after his team was eliminated from the playoffs.

DeRozan, who will become an unrestricted free agent July 1, has been with the Raptors for his entire career. He was asked specifically if he can find a better situation than Toronto

"I don't think so," DeRozan said Saturday. "My mindset has always been Toronto. I've always preached it. I was passionate about it when we were losing, when we were terrible. I said I was going to stick through this whole thing, and I want to be that guy who brings this organization to where it is now. I definitely don't want to switch that up after we win."

DeMar DeRozan told reporters Saturday that he wants to return to the Raptors, downplaying the buzz that he could sign with his hometown Lakers as a free agent. Vaughn Ridley/Getty Images
DeRozan, a two-time All-Star who averaged 23.5 points per game during the regular season, has been linked to his hometown Los Angeles Lakers, who could be one of several teams to offer him a maximum contract starting at $25 million annually.

Per collective bargaining rules, the Raptors will be able to offer DeRozan up to five years at around $145 million, whereas other teams will be able to offer him up to four years at around $107 million. Toronto general manager Masai Ujiri will address the media early next week.

"I grew up in L.A. That's my home. There's not a part of L.A. I haven't seen," said DeRozan, who attended Compton High School and USC before being selected No. 9 overall by Toronto in the 2009 NBA draft. "I don't get caught up into it. I let whoever comes up with that say what they want to say.

"The only thing appealing to me is the things I've done in this organization and the things that can be done here. And that's always been my mindset since I've been here."

This is not the first time DeRozan has made his hopes known.

"I've been saying it for a long time. I haven't changed, not one bit," DeRozan said. "I took pride in putting that Raptors jersey on when people counted us out or when people said, 'Why go to Toronto? Why this, why that, why this, why that?' You hear it so much -- that gave me the motivation to want to prove people wrong or prove critics wrong -- why this organization can't be a winning organization. You know what I mean? I took pride in that a long time ago. To see how far [we've come], that's what it's all about."

DeRozan was Toronto's most consistent scorer in the Eastern Conference finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, averaging a team-leading 23.0 points per game. The Raptors, appearing in the conference finals for the first time in franchise history, were eliminated by the Cavaliers with their loss at home Friday night in Game 6.

SAS needs to be quiet he doesn't know anything...let the youngsters cook!

"Athlete said..."

hasn't meant anything to me in like forever. Derozan could be here tomorrow despite the words about wanting to be in TOR.

Wasn't Deandre supposed to be on the Mavs this past season? Wasn't Kobe supposed to bail if Fisher left? Soooooo many examples, man. When Derozan signs a new deal with TOR, I'll believe he wants to stay with TOR.

Dude is saying what he has to say,
What his agent says will be different come July 1st or whenever that moratorium begins

Give Byron a second chance guys.
Bring him back as assistant and let him get some real time to teach our players how to man up.
He could handle assistant waterboy or towelboy as much coaching he did last 2 years..but team tank worked gotta give it to him..

Would you guys do a Robin Lopez for Lou Williams and #32 pick trade?

Lakers get a good center on a good contract (3 years-$41.3M) in his prime and doesn't have injury-character concerns. The Lakers will be young enough, and probably don't need another young guy. Knicks get some firepower in the backcourt and a pick that they reportedly want. Williams makes half of what Lopez does, so that gives them extra cap room.

I'd prefer something like this over most of the free agent options, considering the cost. I really like what RoLo brings.

any changes is wanting kd or russ in LA

I'll still take either or both. This was probably honestly the best thing that could have happened from our standpoint.

Gonna need Ingram to develop into Klay or Durant. The good Durant anyways. :lol

Would give us 2 - Deep Threats.

Russell LOOKS like he'll develop into a plus 3 point shooter.

Before the All Star Break was 33.2%, post All Star Break was 38.9%... Same amount of 3s per game, pre and post All Star Game.

Settled at 35.1%, league average was 35.4%.

He came into the league, not ready for the NBA 3 distance, just didn't have the strength & muscle memory for the distance. Wasn't getting his legs into it to push the ball, and kept missing off the front of the rim. Seemed to drastically improve as the season went on.

38.9% for a season would have put him at about 11th in Rookie 3P% since Mike D'Antoni started coaching the Suns. Used that just because that's when there was a distinct change in offensive philosophy obviously.

Also have to hope Clarkson keeps trending in the right direction. Went from 31.4 to 34.7. If he could up it to 36 as a volume shooter, that means a whole hell of a lot as well. Had a leg problem that supposedly derailed him for a couple of months. BUT he did have 2 extremely good 3 point shooting months, 3 meh months, and 1 really bad month. Gotta hope he can just steadily improve slightly

Clarkson has all the tools to be a good three point shooter too.  His form is there, he just needs to put in the reps to get better.  Hopefully he is putting up a 1,000 over the summer to improve.
