Heck, Hakeem Olajuwon probably sits and stares at the ceiling each night he goes to bed wondering why he couldn't have been born even just 5-7 years later. He carved out an 18-year HOF career and made roughly $108 million. Shaquille O'neal has played an 18-year HOF career and is already over $290 million.

Michael Jordan made $24.9 million his first NINE years in the league. Eddie Curry made more than that before his 25th birthday. Tim Thomas made $38.7 million just in three season in the middle of his career. And on and on.

Hey the money might be there for the taking. But yes, as always, it's the fan who pays and it's the scrub players who get fat.

The league still is out of control with the salaries and talk of lockout obviously is not surprising IMO.

Those are interesting comparisons. I think it has got crazy over the last 10 years or so - even a mediocre player is asking for $5m+ a season - which is just silly.
