He was headed that route, until he took a detour with Great Gatsby.

Nope.

Johnny Depp >.

Denzel is by far the most overrated. Not saying he's not good, just overrated. Dude plays the exact same character in every movie. No versatility.

Being able to work with Scorsese is great too.

This thread comes up like 3 times every year and it's always gotta be about Leo :lol

Anyways, Joaquin Phoenix might not have a body of work that matches the actors mentioned yet, but he is coming for that top spot!

Arguments can be made for both Leo AND Denzel playing the same types of characters in their movies. You wanna check out some versatility, then check Joaquin in the trailers for Walk the Line, The Master, and Her. In Phoenix's next movie, Inherent Vice, he's gonna play a pothead private investigator :smokin

Gladiator
Walk the Line
The Master

Upcoming movies:
Her
Inherent Vice
The Immigrant

Nah you can't count out Tom. It seemed like he took the last ten years off doing a bunch of nothing roles but he's coming back in a big way this year with Captain Philips and Saving Mr Banks

I'm not a movie/actor snob/buff, but speaking on the latest ldc work that I've seen (django) it's simply unreal how he owned that role. The way he appeared to be perturbed yet intrigued when django made certain statements was so natural that it was as if he was deeply appalled personally. There are TONS of amazing actors that don't get credit, I've noticed.

Also how do critics judge or rate actors? Is there some type of point system? Or is it just all a matter of opinion.

It's interesting how many small things go into a great acting performance.

I love every movie Denzel had ever made but I have to agree dude is the same guy regardless of his role. I thought flight was the closest he's come recently to toning down his overly cool persona.

Depp and DDL are probably the best from a pure acting stand point with Leo a not so distant third.

Not mad at the title... I'm rocking with Edward Norton, Brad Pitt (dude gets awesome roles), and Kevin Spacey too.

Edit - There's so many dope actors, too many to name.

LEO >>>>>>>>

Although I will admit, having the better movies does help his case
