looks really bad for the front office when nick young tells reporters before the game that hes going to go all out and prevent us from getting a good draft pick (that would take his playing time) and is actually allowed to do it
lakers front office cant even outsmart nick young

It is not to manipulate the outcomes of games to try to land better talent in the draft and potentially secure more wins in the future.
And, as D’Antoni pointed out, the Lakers could always beat the Spurs on Wednesday with Gregg Popovich resting his starters and make the win against the Jazz a moot point. Or the Boston Celtics could always beat the Washington Wizards in their last game and, coupled with a Lakers loss to San Antonio, create a coin-flip scenario to determine who gets the No. 5 position.

No, dude.
A coach does not pay attention to lottery standings, percentages, who won/lost that night, or the night before. Their job is to coach.
That's what he did. He treated game 81, the same as he treated game 1.
The fault, lies with the top. THEY, are the ones that have to factor in everything, every single detail. Including Mike.
They needed to be the ones to pull Mike and say, here's what we need.......and then, Mike goes out and does that.
They didn't do that.
So, he went out, and did his job, which is to coach this team.
Hopefully you've noticed, Mitch has an agenda. Mike has his agenda. Kobe has his agenda. Pau, agenda. Nick Young, a damn agenda.
What's going on is, no one is at the top, lining everything up. Mitch needs to get Mike on the same page, Kobe, Pau, Young, Farmar, etc etc on down the line.
Tell me, do you see that, this year?
Absolutely not.
Kobe out here takin huge contracts from Mitch, then sayin Mitch better win fast.
Mike is hired for next year one day, fired the next. His team "quit" on him in game 50, but played balls out in game 81.
Pau, I mean, do I need to explain Pau this year?
Nick Young, contract player. Joyfully ruining our draft position all year long, so he can keep his job. (not to ya know, help HIS team get better players for him to play alongside, no, not that)
In the end, Jim and Jeanie sit in their offices doing, what? Watching it all unfold.
Which is why...
Many of us said...
Jim Buss, is, an, idiot.
Man, I agree with everything you are saying overall. BUT, there's no way in hell you can blame Nick Young for ballin on a contract year and for trying to keep his job. WTF kind of logic would it be for a player to do the opposite. You think he's gonna go out there and purposely play like ****? That just wouldn't make sense. But everyone else, you right 100%. Losing Jerry Buss was one of the worst things to happen to us. With him, we had a certain way of doing things that everyone would have to conform to down the line. Jim/Jeanie got no clue what they are doing.
Last night was the most angry I've been over a Lakers win maybe ever.
Right now, I want Mitch out, Jim, Mike, Kobe, Pau, Nash, and this stupid ********** Nick Young.
I have an idea. we should all create a billboard ala #stayd12 except it should say #HireCP for the GM position.
Would you take the job cp? You'd have to leave your family behind in Oregon.
How loyal are you to the Lakers?
So again, to reiterate:When should we tell them that it's on upper management to inform the coach of what needs/should be done? Or should I just let them believe it's on Mike? This is the type of imcompetence I look forward to next season.Exactly the type of post I came to make, right down to Rondo & Gortat making Mike realize.Originally Posted by L2B

Mike D'Antoni didn't know how the NBA Lottery system works...
He admitted, in quote, that he thought in tonight's game "didn't matter" if we won or lost, chances would remain the same.
Yet this is the coach some of you dudes choose to defend!? This dude doesn't even know how the draft system works.
Us not knowing is one thing, we're fans. This guy is being paid 5 million dollars to know these sorts of things, is he not?
Or would he have known if he had Rondo and Gortat?
This dudes a joke.
You're the nicer guy, you make the call.
"He's not a good coach" =/= "I want him outta here.""I have Mike's back"Right now, I want Mitch out, Jim, Mike, Kobe, Pau, Nash, and this stupid ********** Nick Young.
You had a lot of disagreements with that? There was a line of folks defending Jim to you?
Pretty sure everyone put their faith in Mitch, and not Jim back then.
And to be fair to Jim, damning him during his "rookie" year as an owner, is rather unfair. You do need to give a guy a few years to see what he can do.
Mitch has been with the org 30+ years. He worked for Jerry Buss, and Jerry West. Mitch KNOWS what needs to be done, and how it needs to get done. Moreso than Jim in fact. So even if Jim is leaning a wrong direction, Mitch should be able to say hey, boss, lean the other way for me big fella, and the tides straighten out.
Jim pays the bills, no doubt, but Mitch is the one we entrust to run the org. Just as Phil is about to start running the Knicks org. Danny Ainge in Boston, Larry Bird in Indiana, Pat Riley in Miami, etc.
