**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

I suppose they have DLo leading the team. Either way, what a sight to see for Russell

The point is simple.

It's not a DLo thing. It's not an AR thing. It's not a Rui thing. It's not a Bron thing.

The starting lineup is +19. That's 15th among 2000 lineups.

It's that the bench is so significantly ****** that whenever they bring one of them in, it's like 20 point swings in rating.

If you have 3 competent backups, you can then mix and match your lineups to do what you need to do to give your 5 rests throughout the game, and hammer in the +

Use the Nuggets as an example. Their starting lineup, still really good. But their bench is so god awful. Rather than being 4-2 or 5-1, they are 3-3.

This is why stats are so misleading. You got AD damn near the bottom of the team in defensive rating yet starters are still plus-19.

Still need an impact center to win the championship, all these advanced stats notwithstanding.

Starters at Plus 19 or not, the team as currently constructed isn’t beating BOS in a 7 game series until they add more size and until they shoot much better from deep as a team

It's not really misleading. He ends up in a lot of lineups with Gabe and Max drags him down. It happens a lot honestly throughout the NBA.

I agree on a center, I wouldn't say a 35 mpg guy. But 20-25 minutes (Kessler or Nick Richards). Hayes and/or Wood are not bad, but as the 3rd Center option.

As for shooting, Gabe and Max hurt because their role on the offense is to be off ball, so when it gets to them, they need to convert their shots. Otherwise they are HUGE liabilities on the floor. Worse than Vando as a liability (when he is healthy). This is where Max should have gotten a ton of time last year consistently. Because we'd know what we'd have already and could have moved on if need be.

I think the answer is getting that center. So you can run two 4-5 minute stretches with a big lineup.
And combining all of Gabe, Max Christie, Max Lewis and maybe Cam Reddish as well to get the best guard you can get to check as many boxes as possible to match DLo & AR. Don't need a great player, just a guy who does a lot of stuff consistently
Add it with Knecht, and Hays and/or Wood 3rd center. And then try to find anybody who is available as a FA to just add depth

Cam brings some give a **** at least.

Quality 13 minutes from Gabe and Max. More turnovers than points, rebounds, assists and steals combined

Guard defense is horrible tonight.

Ivey getting to the rim at will.

We aren't crashing the boards at all on the offensive side.

Maybe they turn it around 2nd half.

Easier to watch these games with zero expectations.
