**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

AD better not let Bam out play him.

This team really needs to crash the boards for AD. They let these folks drive to the rim so AD can handle it, but refuse to rebound the misses.

Majority of our 2nd chance points are due ro poor rebounding. It's not like it's lucky bounces, these guys just do not hustle to get boards.

Wait a minute… DLo was out with a bruised tailbone AND Cam was out with a sore groin last game? While on a the road too, I hope they weren’t roommates

Facts.

Effort isn't there and the team lacks discipline.

How we have two all time great players having great seasons and still at .500?

Roster just isn't as good as we thought.

West is loaded. OKC, Timberwolves, Clippers, Denver, Sac...

All these teams do thing better than we do.

Easy answer and we really don't need the stats/numbers to see why: No Bigs to help AD, who is overcompensating to cover for the Lakers lack of rebounding and shot blocking, which were two of the Lakers' greatest strengths in 2020, where they were 9th in rebs per game and 1st in blocks per game.

But since most folks are all about "Stats > Eye Test", lemme go ahead and bring the numbers to back up what EYE been seeing all along without the need to look up the stats.

So here are the #'s nonetheless...

In 2020, the Lakers were also 1st in FG% but 21st in 3-point FG%, which suggest three point volume was not their bread and butter on offense. They shot 48% from the field because the Lakers were 3rd in the league on 2-point FG% and 1st in the league in field goal percentage on shots 0-3 feet from the rim.

This season the Lakers are 18th in rebounds per game and 11th in blocks, compared to 9th in rebs and 1st in blocks respectively in 2020. This is the biggest difference, not shooting. AD don't got no help and is why he is averaging 12 rebs per game after only needing to avg 9 in 2020 cause he had Dwight and Javale combining to average 13 boards themselves.

They're 7th in FG% this year, which isn't too bad compared to 1st in 2020, and they're 20th in 3-point FG% this year so far, which is actually better than they were in 2020 LOL.

So all these claims that the Lakers need better 3-point shooters is hogwash cause they actually shot worse from deep in 2020 than they're doing now.

This year the Lakers are 9th in the NBA in 2-point FG%, compared to 2020 when they were 3rd. They're 6th in 2-point FG's 0-3 feet from the rim compared to 1st in the league in 2020. So thr shooting is not too far off from their 2020 nnumbers. The biggest differences in the Lakers' team rankings in 2023 compared to 2020 is in the rebounding and blocked shots categories. This is a sure indicator that this 2023 team lacks the size, physicality, length, and muscle to bully teams like they did three years ago.

Really don't think the Lakers have the appetite to add a third max contract on the roster.

Stay away from Zach. That contract ain't worth it.

Mitchell is the only one who makes sense but we can't get him.

So that's a missed corner three, two turnovers and leaving Bam wide open on D so far for Reddish. Stellar.
