**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Lakers are in a really tough spot cap wise.

But some of the coaching candidates being floated can’t be serious. Which based on the last decade, are entirely serious.

They’d be better served just trying to catch lightning in a bottle on a new coach without any experience.

Otherwise, Mike Brown? Quinn Snyder? Steve Clifford? Don’t do really anything for making them better.
As flawed as Vogel can be, none of those guys are better.

Agreed, but he was kind of entertaining to watch for a portion of the season. Too much reliance on him just exposes his lack of defense like you said.
Definitely was entertaining to start the season but he had too many minutes like you said. With a properly built roster, I'd love to have him back.

As cheap as Jeanie has been, I really don't see why they fire Vogel.

Just let him play his contract out, Russ is gone next season unless they trade him, Bron could be gone unless we extend him.

That's probably gonna tell us what we need to know. If they extend Bron then for sure we probably getting a new coach matched to the number of years Bron is here.

Either way this summer is truly everything for this franchise. Really determines the next 5 to 8 years...

Yes or no:

Monk -
Dwight -
Gabriel -
Melo -
Ariza -
Bazemore -
Ellington -
Bradley -
Augustin -

Monk - Maybe
Dwight - No
Gabriel - Maybe
Melo - No
Ariza - No
Bazemore - No
Ellington - No
Bradley - No
Augustin - No

What is the Knicks package that involves Russ and Randle?

And **** Nunn for opting in with exactly ZERO minutes this season.

Listening to the talking heads on ESPN 710...

Max said we should offer Russ and AD to the Knicks...

Bruh what?

If the Knicks want out of the Randle contract and give some decent fillers for Russ I'd hope for that (strongly doubt it) but AD and Russ would just about be thier entire roster and that roster is in the dumps in the east...

They brought JVG in and asked about that deal and he just laughed in Max Kellermans face.

These guys just throw stuff on the wall...I can't stand NBA media.

Actually benefits us greatly for Nunn to opt in. Gives a 5 mill dollar player. Now we can add another 5 mill dollar player and vet mins.

He opts out and all we have is 1 5 mill dollar player and rest vet mins.

Can't help but to wonder if maybe the original plan was to have Vogel as a placeholder but J Kidd was who the Lakers really wanted to have as head coach.

Doesn't make sense to me since he was already on the bench.

If they wanted J. Kidd they could have had him.

But once again, Vogel getting scapegoated.

Vogel was definitely the fourth choice after Lue, Monty Williams and Kidd.

But the Lakers didn't want to hire Kidd as the head coach given his past off the court troubles and Bucks were messy under him.

vogel was always gonna be scapegoated
whether j kidd was still on the staff or not

palabra de lebron

Hoping and praying Russ somehow declines his player option.

Bringing this back:

I mean that wanted Kidd originally, but because of the domestic violence stuff they settled for Frank and hoped maybe in a due time that it would blow over.

Russ may not have been the best fit for this team...

But no way he is dumb enough to turn down 47 Mil, unless a team is gonna offer him a 4 year 100 mil deal or something.

Didn’t he get a the Brooklyn and Milwaukee jobs after the domestic violence charge?

It was over 20 years ago

I'm just praying for it. I hope he values his mental over the money and fly back to the east coast to thrive with triple doubles.

windy at least telling the truth on 710 about Magic Johnson's nonsense.

No way we could have gotten Derozen and kept AC or THT. That's just the facts due to the hard cap.

Quick hypothetical. What would ya'll prefer?

Keep Russ and pay him $47 million for 1 year

He declines option, and we sign him for 3 years $64 million
