**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

People act like Noel is some sort of gem LMAO

Dude tore his ACL in college and has missed a ton of games just about every year of his pro career due to injury after injury. Might as well say Noel's body is just about as durable as a 35-year old

but its gonna take more than an expiring deal to get him

plus 11 mil + to sign him in the offseason

No bro. It is not the same it just isn't.
We don't have the same type of picks. And age means something in professional sports. Period. You can't change the rules to fit what you want :lol

And NO we will not say his body is as durable as a 35 yr old cuz that would be uuuuuhhhh dumb lol

Think about it. Why is it that it's Noel NOT Okafor who's on the trading chop block in Philly?

Jah is on the block as well, it's just Noel theoretically is easier to move given what he brings to the table and how the game is played in today's NBA. Jah is also under contract for 2 more seasons at a rookie deal. Noel is a RFA this summer and will command 15+ million to retain.

Precisely, it may be EASIER to get Noel via trade than most people think. Which means, PHILLY may not ask for much, as long as they can fill a need at low cost to them (Calderon)

Not really, it's just the contract situation moves him higher up on the priority list. Not that they'll take a pack of sunflower seeds for him.

Cle acquired Korver, a starter and one of the league's best sharpshooters for TWO SCRUBS WHO DON'T EVEN PLAY (i.e. trash).

In other words, equivalent to Calderon (i.e. trash) for an oft-injured Noel.

Feed the fire fellas. I'm always down to fight lol
The Korver deal makes your scenario even more ridiculous.

They gave up a 1st rounder for a 35 yr old spot up shooter.

It's gonna take a lot more than that to get a 22yr old defensive anchor.

Calderon for Nerlens

Cleveland's first rounder will be a #30 pick. You act like they're giving up a valuable pick

When the Lakers were fielding championships teams, they had no problems giving up late first rounders in order to acquire a valuable role player that can be an integral piece.

Stop it now my dude. A first round pick for a bottom-feeder team such as LAL, PHO, PHI is MUCH different than a first rounder for an elite team therefore trade value is going to mean a lot different for those picks in the context of a trade.
Yes, all of that is true. But it's still better than Jose Calderon.

Again, going back to the Korver deal. He was moved for 2 (TWO) terrible players AND a 1st. You want to get an even better player for just 1 (ONE) terrible player.

It's cool man, you came up with a terrible trade scenario. Just revise it and hit the trade machine again.

My point is, it's not outside the realm of possibility that Philly could actually make the move, especially if the player they acquire is 1) an expiring contract that will free up more space for them to make more significant moves next year, and 2) fills an immediate need at PG in light of injuries to Rodriguez and Bayless. There's value in that alone, especially when Philly already knows other GM's are well aware of Noel's injury history and won't offer much because of it.

Or they can just let Noel walk. Calderon is washed, he's not filling a need for anyone. Clarkson yes he would fill a need, our 14th guy no. It's not like Philly doesn't have cap space in free agency this coming summer where Noel's cap hold is going to kill them.

Let me just confirm, we are all aware that Philly owns our pick right? Yet we're still discussing trade scenarios that would lower the value of that pick and fill a weakness in our lineup? Is that right?

Noel would improve our defense somewhat but he can't erase everything. And on the flip side say they do move JC for him, he'd help Philly a lot and likely negate whatever slight boost we'd get from Noel this season.

See this is keyboard bravado again. If I'm Philly hell no do I take that chance in real life. The bottom of the league is separated by only a handful of games. I'm not gonna get fair value anyway but I could trade with 28 other teams and get a pick in what looks like the 4-6 range rather than clearly improve a team that has my pick. It's asinine AF to even discuss but again I know some enjoy mental masturbating

Would you rather discuss the athleticism of Julius Randle? Or compare another one of our young guys to HOFers that has to qualify as some type of masturbation I would think.

As long as we agree that Philly gifting us a big and watering down their own pick is a dumbass idea that will never happen in real life sure, let's masturbate together

Well it was just a trade rumor. You have to bring the coconut oil though.

No thanks to parting with Clarkson for Noel.... Want to keep him around, and not watch Lou Williams. Because if it's a choice, I'd rather just go all out in Free Agency for Noel than trade Clarkson

They can have Lou Will, Tarik, (whoever Minny gives up for Deng, likely Shabazz), and removing the protection on the pick, and whatever else we can dig up.

Anywho I just wanted to chime in on the CBA talk. Saw some quotes saying players would just sign with their incumbent teams and force a trade after the fact...I read the exact same thing last time they restructured the CBA. Off the top of my head I can't think of any player who actually did that. Melo, deron Williams and Dwight are the last guys I can even think of to force a trade and that was like two cbas ago
I don't think the notion of signing a contract, then forcing a trade later on really was discussed until Melo in 2014.

You forgot the first round pick the Hawks got too. That was a good haul for a Korver.

How is a top 30 protected pick still a 1st round pick? That confused the hell outta me.
