**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

His role as a 3rd option should allow him to flourish should it come to fruition. Bron needs to adjust his game though and not control the ball so much.

This is my thing. Bron clearly needs someone to help create for him at this stage. Beverley, green, whatever high level role players don't do that. D'lo does

He definitely needs to get to the rim more, the year he had shooting I don't believe is going to be sustainable. He needs to continue to diversify his game and try and get to the free throw line some at least.

I don't think Bron knows that though. They tried to do that to begin last season then we just reverted to Bron ball. He doesn't seem to want to relinquish control and get his *** in the post or just be primarily a scorer.

Then again, he would get a lot more threes and have to rely less on hitting a high clip on his mid range jumpers.

Brogdon is a better fit especially with Lebron imo but an AD-DLO duo once Lebron retires is tantalizing.

I really do think his midrange efficiency is sustainable. He's really good at that. Getting to his spots and hitting those shots. He's the antithesis of an analytical player and I get why people are down on him. But I do think he is elite at the midrnage game and last season wasn't a fluke.

Like I said above I think his mid range jumper is money and not flukey. What the dude really needs to do is 1) Somehow manufacture some free throws. Somehow watch Lou Will tape all summer long. I don't know what he can do to correct this. 2) Get better at finishing. He's limited athletically. I believe he was 200/400 in the paint. Gotta get that percentage and volume up. Probably won't be able to so he has to offset it with a higher 3pt% 3) Get that 3pt% up. 37% is good, but I really do think he can improve it.

I think it's moreso that he didn't trust Zo to do it. I like Zo but I don't blame him if that was the case. He had no problem letting Kyrie and Wade cook

Weren't you guaranteeing Kawhi? I'm not liking this pivot.

Having Kawhi on this team, wouldn't even be fun to watch. There would be no challenge

He's a career 58% shooter from 0-3 feet compared to kyrie's 60%. Kyrie's finishing didn't take a leap until the past two years. After his first 4 years he was at 59%. Granted he does take 10% more of his shots at the rim but if the points and percentages are the same, does it matter that much?
Frequency and ft rate are part of my worries with dlo but yea those numbers are better than I expected.

And an argument could also be made for Kyrie's finishing declining in his 30s.

I'm all for dlo being here, I'm just looking past the Bron era. Is AD, dlo and kuz a championship core?

At this point I would almost be disappointed if we got Kawhi instead of D'lo . I still think Kawhi is a very real possibility but after him there's no other option besides D'lo for me personally

I think so. D'lo and Kuz are two guys that can get white hot on a pretty regular basis. Neither of them are Klay but they both have that ability to just get dumb hot and turn games singlehandedly. I think it would be fairly easy to plug in championship pieces around that core

Depends on when Bron retires or leaves and if Kuz continues to develop and most importantly improves on the defensive end.

I'd take Kyrie and Jimmy over Dlo.

Also, I need to be a hater for a second and point out the Lakers are still are such a garbage organization. Thankfully we got AD and Lebron though. Talent always wins out.

Unpopular opinion as well: I wish the team would move Kuzma for a more defensive orientated wing.

Kyrie, yes
Jimmy, nah

Them deeming Kuz the untouchable doesn't inspire confidence in the Lakers knowing what they're doing. Kurt Rambis and Phil Jax having influence on actual basketball personnel decisions is ridiculous.

Ur forgetting that Kuzma makes 1.8 mill a year. You’d never trade him

Is he actually "untouchable" I never bought that.

Why couldn't it just be the Pelicans preferred Ball and Ingram over Kuzma (as I would think any smart GM would)? The Lakers were so thirsty the Pelicans could do whatever they wanted.

Money as well.

He absolutely was untouchable. He's played the game perfectly as how to integrate yourself with the people you need to in order to stay. Namely Jeanie and Kobe. I think the Lakers believe that he was the best player in the present among the young core and future.

I think he’s untouchable Bc he makes such little money and now we still have potential for Kawhi level max

If we kept BI we would be at like 27 mill or so.

Plus his cap number allowed them to chase a max.

But just imagine if they kept zo and went after dlo...:frown:

I'd rather the latter. Kawhi/Kyrie/Klay wasn't ever coming. You keep BI and still have room to get D'Lo near his max.
