**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Theres several valid reasons why Kawhi would want to come here. Off the court, It’s home, his family lives here, I’m sure he enjoys the climate, the women, the ability to grow his brand, his earning potential is greatest here. On the court, he would be apart of arguably the greatest trio ever. Easy dynasty for 3 years and beyond that, barring injury, him and AD could run it for another 3. Overall no other team compares

There’s also valid reasons why he doesn’t wanna come here. Maybe he doesn’t like the media/attention he will get here. Maybe he wants to be the sole #1 guy on another team and build that type of legacy. Maybe he don’t like money

Who knows at this point. But I don’t think anyone can make any definitive statement and say kawhi does not/will not sign here. Nobody knows at this point. Did we not learn from last year and LBJ? One year ago, PG was a lock and LBJ was the hard sell. I don’t trust any of the media stuff. I think it’s equally likely Kawhi ends up a Laker than he does a clipper/raptor

He handled the media well during the finals. 2 countries were closely watching him handle the press/media/etc and I think he did well.

One of the biggest reasons I can see Kawhi wanting to come is him not wanting to lead a team again. That **** was hell all throughout the playoffs for him. I can see him wanting to return to a similar position like he was in San Antonio

He wants health and winning.
-You can't tell me the Lakers bringing back Judy Seto is a coincidence.
-Being on a team where you have Lebron and AD....

My man carried Toronto hard lol

It was hard work cause he ended up getting injured in the playoffs. He took 22 games off and his team didn't skip a beat during the regular season. His teammates were really good in picking him up when he was struggling in the playoffs. They can bring everybody back. Pascal should improve they didn't even have OG for this run, TOR can run it back and be the clear favorites to win it again next season in my opinion.

If it makes you guys feel better. Woj really likes DLo. Has a good relationship with him. So that’s good.

Toronto did an excellent job last season. The issue is selling Kawhi on sustained success. What pieces does Toronto have that will make them legitimate contenders for the next 4 years? Lowry and Gasol are descending. Siakam is nice but he isn’t suited to be a go to #2. They won’t be in the market to get any FAs til 2021. Gasol is going to make 25M at age 36, and Lowry 35M at age 35.

He's not going to stay there for 4 years. Just until he gets to 10 years so he can go back in and get 35% of a significantly bigger cap. They absolutely can compete with this same squad next season and then all the albatross contracts come off the books in a FA class that's actually loaded in 2021. Kawhi's going to get a max regardless he's teflon now and has the most leverage in the league.

Yeah that’s very possible as well. Would make a lot of sense.
He signs a 4 year max with an opt out after 2. Runs it back for a couple more years. He opts out after 2 and can collect a new max deal at age 30. If Toronto shows they’re real players in FA he resigns, if not he goes elsewhere. I can see this as well
