So a guy was playing poker with a director from mlse which is maple leaf sports entertainment (I think they own the raptors or at least the raptors are a subsidiary company).. anyways he expressed to the mlse director that he’s optimistic about kawhi returning because of the recent media appearances. The director told him that those are somewhat meaningless and not to read too much into it. Kawhi is just filling obligations he had during the season
Cargo jet appearance - Lowry had the same deal. If you go on cargo jet Instagram you can see Lowry made appearances. Apparently kawhi was fulfilling his speaking/appearance obligation for the company
Blue jays game - the blue jays worked hard with the raptors to get kawhi to show up. Kawhi only showed up out of respect for the Rogers family (own the blue jays I believe) and he left after 3 innings.
House/school - it is true kawhi has been shopping for a home in Toronto as well as schools for his daughter. But the director said it’s more due diligence. He said kawhi put an offer on a home in bridle path area in Toronto but can withdraw the offer in the time frame that FA is. He hasn’t officially purchased a house or enrolled his daughter in any school.
The director said kawhi told the raptors he plans to take other meetings. Also mentioned how the raptors are most concerned about Los Angeles convincing him and his family to move out there (he didn’t specify lakers or clippers). He said the raptors know this and have been putting together a great presentation for kawhi with the direction of the team and how to keep them competitive.
So basically it’s a little more insight but doesn’t confrm anything
