**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

My only concern, from day one, has been his skill set. I don't see him as having the elite quickness/athleticism that point guards in today's modern NBA game have, especially when you use a #2 pick on him
These were EXACTLY the same concerns about Steph Curry coming into the league
Compare what Steph and DLo did for their respective schools in the NCAA Tournament and maybe, just maybe, you'll see the difference between the two.

But steph has really worked on his strength and Dlo will do that too

Steph isn't lightning quick, he gets by defenders with his handles and fakes. And he's a much better finisher at the rim

One did 4 years at a mid major...the other did 1 at a high major.

What on earth are you talking about?

And the one who was at a mid major dominated high majors in the tourney. You don't remember? vs Gonzaga, Georgetown, Wisonsin, Kansas.

The skills do the talking, not how many years you been in school. How many years did elite players such as KAT, Kobe, KG, Wall, and Kyrie play in college? LOL

Heck, Kyrie played 11 GAMES at Duke.

Keep trying.

What on EARTH kind of logic are you using here? Why would you mention Steph's Tourney work and then bring up names (other than KAT) who also didn't find much success in the tourney?

By your logic, Kyrie, Wall, KG, and Kobe can't be compared to Steph either since they didn't "dominate" the NCAA Tournament

Lay off the paint chips man...

you really forgot what you initially said? "These were EXACTLY the same concerns about Steph Curry coming into the league"

So your logic initially was that because there were "concerns" about Curry coming out of college, there are similar concerns about DLo and thus DLo will improve and could quite possibly become elite just like Curry. That's what you meant correct?

So I say you're wrong. Because a lot of players have "concerns" coming out of college or high school (ie, Durant too skinny, KG too skinny, Wall can't shoot, Kyrie didn't play enough and he's too raw, etc etc) but yet because of these players' SKILL SETS and MENTALITY, they end up quite predictably, NBA All-Stars or should I say franchise players.

So you ask why I mention Steph's tourney work? Because his play in the tourney is what made everyone take notice that he had the SKILLS and the MENTALITY to quite possibly make a mark at the NBA Level and be very successful. Just like what KAT had done in his one year, just like what Kyrie had done in his 11 games at Duke playing against the best competition in college, same thing with Wall and Durant. Can't say the same about DLo at Ohio State.

Oh btw, KAT did lead his team to the NCAA Final, something DLo didn't come close to doing. So don't give me this nonsense about KAT not "finding much success in the tourney" because he was a matchup problem for damn near everybody.

So if D'Lo's skillset didn't stand out in his one year @ Ohio State why  the **** was he a consensus top 3 pick across the board?

I'm losing brain cells talking to you man.

Tell me how weak or strong DLo's draft class was. The 2015 draft class was among the worst in recent memory. I'm waiting...

I don't know why some of you continue with him ...but plz continue the last 2 pages have been very entertaining :lol

Not to mention,

1. KAT's team didn't get to the Final anyway.

2. Basing a draft selection on a single elimination tournament is stupid. Kevin Durant couldn't get Texas past the second round either. UT got knocked out by a team led by Nick Young.

3. D'Lo's Ohio State team had zero other NBA players on it and they lost to an Arizona team that had several.

So Whiplash: what do you think mgmt should do at this point?

Please advise

The Los Angeles Lakers hosted Kristaps Porzingis for a private workout before the 2015 NBA Draft but applied an old school structure in which it was "essentially a challenge of his manhood rather than a validation of his gifts."

The Lakers wanted to test the physicality of Porzingis and his "bigness" in that workout. Mark Madsen, notorious for physical play in his NBA career, was pushed on Porzingis in the workout.

very interesting.

Trade all the young pieces that haven't showed themselves to be the 2nd coming of Michael Jordan within their first 2 years of playing for a certified Head Case, next year championship. The End. :rolleyes

Everyone who doesn't jump of the Dlo train is a lame and this is a laker thread only people with x amount of post have valid opinions everyone else basically are new fans and can't have opinions

True. Everyone is allowed their opinion on whatever. We aren't elitist Lakers fans in here.

What's funny was I already knew who wrote that article immediately after reading this small tidbit, and I didn't even know he wrote another "Jeanie be my friend" thinkpiece
