If you can get a late pick for a low value player like huertas or Calderon or some stash player we've never heard of, what purpose would it serve to trade an actual productive player like lou for the same pick? Players have value outside of just being trade assets. Their contributions on the court are worthwhile unless you're not trying to win games. If the choice is between keeping a good player a season or two and either re-signing them or losing them in free agency versus trading that player for the same value you can get from the 15th man..why make a move?
Lou and Deng for noel pls
Why can't we have Lou in our long term plans? He's the type of player that can get buckets off the bench well into his mid 30s (Jamal Crawford) and teams need that
You can get a better pick for Lou than you can for Calderon. I figured that would be simple to grasp, no?
Nine more days and Laker trade rumors will ramp up. Mozzie, Deng, Huertas, Black, among others, will all be on the block. Stay tuned...
Yes, for sure. 99.9% of the time, players who are in the rumor mill are the trades that don't happen. I'm just saying once December 15 hits, hoopshype.com, lakersnation.com, etc will be full of articles about several Lakers players who can potentially be moved. Doesn't mean it will happen though.Doubt it. Almost everything the Lakers do comes out of nowhere.Nine more days and Laker trade rumors will ramp up. Lou is the Lakers most consistent scorer night in and night out. Lou is the only player on the team capable of scoring 20-30 on a game-by-game basis. Lou is the only proven consistent offensive weapon and playmaker the Lakers have (operative word: consistent). Lou is having his best year averaging 18 ppg, 1.3 steals, while shooting close to 50% under 23 feet, 40% from deep, and 86% from the stripe.
Lou's salary is only $7 million. He ain't going anywhere.
Starting point guard D’Angelo Russell, who has now missed 10 games with left knee soreness, was reevaluated Tuesday. Walton said Russell feels better and the Lakers will “start getting him on the court a little bit.” Walton said it is possible, but not probable, that Russell could play Friday or Sunday if he is practices before then, though Monday’s game at Sacramento might be more likely for his return.
Russell was initially ruled out for at least two weeks Nov. 23 and Wednesday marks two weeks since that announcement.
“They told me today that [Russell’s] able to start doing some stuff on the court again, that he’s not coming with us,” Walton said after the Lakers practiced Tuesday. “So with what we’re doing from the coaching staff, we’re prepping and working out here with players that are going to be on this trip.
“And then we’ll get more information over the next day or two when it becomes more relevant to [Russell] being back in practice and stuff like that.”
Starting shooting guard Nick Young, backup point guard Jose Calderon and backup center Tarik Black will also stay in Los Angeles. Calderon strained his hamstring in Memphis on Saturday and is expected to be out two to four weeks. Young is sidelined with a strained calf and expected to miss at least another week. He worked on an anti-gravity treadmill Tuesday.[\quote]
